Reporting to North America Canola Commercial Manager, the Canadian Commercial Manager is responsible in overseeing the execution of commercial activity for the Western Canada processing facilities. This role will implement and be responsible for Oilseed Value Chain (OVC) commercial business plan related to execution of all seed origination and the associated meal product sales and logistics. Leadership, strategic planning, and execution are crucial to collaborate with other functional groups to improve safety, communication, efficiency and profitability.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and direct all functions of OVC commercial activities to ensure employees are engaged and adhere to safe and productive work practices
  • Lead commercial manager direct reports and facilitate team cohesion with overarching emphasis on providing employee growth and development
  • Foster and grow customer relationships along the value chain; Upstream producers & commercials, to downstream end user
  • Coordinate specialty seed programs with internal and external partners to manage risk and improve profitability
  • Oversee and support commercial teams’ truck/rail logistic strategies related to seed and truck meal functions and capabilities
  • Identify and recommend trading opportunities
  • Trade association representation: available to be a Bunge leader on industry associations where it provides alignment and continuity with company vision and strategy
  • Provide continual input for the development and execution of OVC commercial business plan
  • Foster, improve and maintain collaborative relationships with commercial groups located at facilities, JV partners, and corporate as well as operations managers and other functional areas such as accounting and finance to advance Bunge’s profitability
  • Maintain constant dialogue with internal commercial groups and management ensuring that information flow is communicated in real time; research, market information, crop & weather reports, industry activity
  • Manager commercial financial results; ensuring the accurate reporting of weekly and monthly financial projections
  • Provide direction for the commercial leaders for OVC to optimize margins, logistic, A/R, A/P and risk management
  • Lead OVC’s commercial strategies to continually build Bunge’s brand image and ensure that brand is aligned with other commercial activities and aligned with overarching commercial strategies

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, Business, Finance, or an applicable related field
  • Seven to ten years in key and diverse commodity trading roles including demonstrated results in key leadership positions
  • Understanding of both Canadian and US Ag Commodities
  • Proven leadership in communication, collaboration, and strategy implementation across functional groups to achieve results while maintaining effective relationships
  • Proven leadership to motivate, energize, align, and promote change in others related to a common purpose and objectives
  • Extensive knowledge of futures trading on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange/ICE exchange, grain contracting, and crush margin projections is required
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced, changing environment is critical
  • Outstanding communication (verbal/written) skills with ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the organizations
  • Ability to work with and through other people to accomplish overall goals
  • Excellent customer service and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency with applicable computer software packages such as: Microsoft Word, Excel, Tableau, SAP, Salesforce
  • Cross-border mobility
