This is a part-time, contract summer job for 35 hours per week in Edmonton, Alberta. The length of the contract will be 8 weeks. This position is dependent upon government funding.
Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 30.
You will be joining an established Agency that is guided by faith to care for and bring hope to people in need with humility, compassion and respect. With more than 60 years of service delivery, Catholic Social Services is one of the largest multi-function social services agencies in Canada, with more than 1800 staff, and hundreds of volunteers delivering 130+ programs throughout Central Alberta.
Catholic Social Services is looking for a creative, dynamic, and motivated Communications and Events Coordinator to join its Development and Community Relations team.
This position will support communications with a number of exciting projects to build the Agency’s brand and reputation including publications, media relations, web and social media, and special events.
This is a great opportunity for a Communications student or recent graduate to gain experience across a number of communications specialties, while also serving some of the most vulnerable members of our community. This portfolio is exciting, diverse, and rewarding.
Responsibilities:
Support marketing and communications requests from service area partners.
Assist with covering stories and producing written content for both print and online audiences.
Assist in event planning, supporting logistics and event-specific communications needs.
Support the creation of digital content for web and social media.
Assist with communications planning and implementation.
Assist with video production, photography, and design.
Education & Qualifications:
Current enrollment or recent completion of Communications, Public Relations, Event Management or Marketing programs is considered an asset.
Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
High level of professionalism, confidentiality and diplomacy.
Strong writing and editing skills (Canadian Press Style).
Savvy with social media platforms.
Ability to edit our website employing a CMS web platform.
Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively as a member of a team within a large organization.
Desktop publishing skills, with experience working in the Adobe Creative Suite, are considered an asset.
Basic proficiency in videography and editing skills, considered an asset.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products.
Criminal Record Check within the last 3 years.
The pay rate for this position is $18.00 per hour.
