Job Description & Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for providing strategic support for the Labor and Employment Law Compliance department. Serve as team member in originating, implementing, and maintaining internal compliance programs to ensure consistency and compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations and enterprise policies and procedures. Coordinate resources and support compliance audits.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Co-manages various HR compliance programs through the review and understanding of employment law requirements and options.
  • Co-manages various HR/Legal Compliance programs to include, but not limited to, the employee hotline (AlertLine), employment verification, immigration sponsorship, background adjudication, state and federal compliance requirements, I-9 compliance, and policy affirmation.
  • Stays abreast of all applicable legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR activities to ensure the enterprise policies, procedures, and reporting activities are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws related to employment.
  • Ensures proper and accurate invoicing for vendor provided services, coordinates timely payment and tracks posting/payment of funds.
  • Creates and maintains organization-wide establishments to ensure accurate Affirmative Action statistics and other data required for federal, state and municipal regulatory agencies.
  • Writes, maintains, and supports a variety of reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools.
  • Acts as a liaison between all levels of line and staff management, compensation and benefits department, legal counsel, and outside service providers. Assists with resolution of associate relations issues.

Nature and Scope

  • Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.
  • Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual, complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor and/or direct customers of the process.
  • May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support or professional personnel.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 2-5 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-5 years in HR, HR Compliance or labor and employment law compliance field. Bachelor’s degree in human resources, employment law, or industrial/labor relations.
  • Experience working with state and federal legal and regulatory agencies, including legislative review, reseach, project execution, analysis and reporting.
  • Experience in WOTC compliance, EEO1, VETS100 and AAP reporting, immigration administration and background adjudication.
  • Experience creating policies, leading cross functional collaborative projects and cross functional meeting discussions.
  • Critical thinking skills, strong communication skills, detailed oriented/organization skills, high accountability, ability to work on multiple projects and drive throughtful business results.
