Job description: We are hiring an experienced Construction Coordinator – Mechanical for a position with our client, a major plastics and chemicals company.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the works are performed technically correctly in responsible discipline
  • Maintain compliance with the RC plan
  • Review that all required provided materials are available to Construction Contractors.
  • Anticipate and resolve problems encountered in the field to eliminate costly rework or retesting.
  • Ensure work is performed per plans, procedures and specifications via coordination with the Quality Assurance plan.
  • Participate in the QA/QC inspections for responsible discipline.
  • Manage interface between Construction Contractors in responsible Project Area.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with Construction Contractors in responsible Project Area.
  • Monitor progress to ensure Construction milestones are understood.
  • Coordinate between the construction contractor and the project engineer to resolve field discrepancies in design packages and material delays.
  • Review contractor work performance and project status updates.
  • Manage interface between project turnover activities with the Commissioning Engineer and Quality Assurance/Quality Control and Construction Contractors Groups in responsible discipline.
  • Manage the punch list completion in responsible discipline.

What you need to bring:

Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 years of construction or maintenance relates experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have planning and coordination experience on construction projects.
  • Commissioning and Startup experience would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of discipline of expertise.
  • Estimating, planning and scheduling skills and experience in mechanical trades.
  • Thorough background in and knowledge of construction work management processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others in a non-confrontational manner and work collaboratively.
  • Experience and knowledge of OH&S requirements and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel).
