WSP is currently seeking a Construction Coordinator to join our Transportation department, located at our Toronto project office. Reporting to the Construction Site Manager this position will be responsible for the administration and technical work associated with developing, maintaining and overseeing a comprehensive Quality Assurance program for the construction contracts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews Contractor submissions for conformance with the Contract Documents prior to sending for technical review by the Designer;
- Reviews submissions after review by the Designer, for conformance with the Contract Documents prior to sending back to the Contractor;
- Tracks, monitors and expedites submittals to ensure they are reviewed and returned within the specified times;
- Assists the Construction Site Manager and Construction Engineers with preparation of minutes of meeting, various reports, tracking of outstanding RFIs, CDRs, Site Safety Observations, etc;
- Efficiently manage the Contract submittals process;
- Develop, review and implement, as well as coordinate or carry out Quality Management processes for performing field oversight observations and verification of the Contractor’s Quality Plan, Work Plan and Work Method Statements;
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 year college program in a relevant engineering technology discipline, or the equivalent, combined with several years of directly related experience in large, multi-discipline, heavy construction projects;
- Sound knowledge of construction quality management principles, practices and techniques;
- Knowledge of construction methods and processes (equipment, techniques, materials, standards);
- Must be able to read and understand construction contract documents;
- Must have comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulations for Construction Projects, and Quality Assurance and Control programmes for construction projects, as well as the Commission’s safety policies and procedures applicable to the construction contract;
- Strong organizational, administrative, analytical and problem-solving abilities;
- Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
- Effective mentor and team player, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize and adhere to strict deadlines;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;
- Completion of ISO9001:2008 Quality Management Training (Auditor courses) and O.A.C.E.T.T Certification as an Engineering Technologist are assets;
- Must have a valid Province of Ontario non-probationary Class “G” Driver’s license
- Knowledge of the Construction Act of Ontario is an asset
- Experience with transportation infrastructure project (e.g. subway, light rail, buses and railway) is preferred
- Experience with transit agency (e.g. TTC, Metrolinx) is preferred
