Golder Associated Ltd. (Golder) is looking to hire a Construction Project EIT (or Engineer), licensed or registered for licensing in the Province of Alberta to develop as a young professional engineer. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of construction and demolition professionals over a period of time developing their skills in many diverse areas of the field of Construction Engineering, focusing on both Construction and Demolition work.

An overview of your role will include:

Project Management

  • Scheduling and/or planning duties in the office or on site.
  • Project control and documentation responsibilities on site
  • Assisting with the preparation of estimates for changes on site or with proposals in the office.

Design

  • Assisting designers with detailed engineering design and specification package development.
  • Quantity take-off and verification

Site Management

  • Collection and reporting of data.
  • QC sampling and testing.
  • Resolving on-site design issues/changes with designer.
  • Cost control and project controls

Lay out

  • Document Management (daily records, drawing register, change management).
  • Interpretation of drawings and specifications for construction site supervisors, foremen, operators, and tradespersons.
  • Providing support to Project Managers, Design Managers, Engineers and project teams for successful execution and delivery of projects.
  • Resolving technical and construction related problems as they arise.

Health and Safety

  • Following our ethical practices as set forth in our Code of Conduct and associated policies.
  • Maintain required industry and corporate training requirements.
  • Identifying and reporting potential and existing site hazards, incidents, potential Fatal Risk Controls, and pSIFs.

You will have a background in:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Experience in the field of construction (road, infrastructure, building) preferred
  • Have strong interpersonal communication skills as well as strong writing skills
  • Understanding of roles and responsibilities related to the execution of construction projects
  • Solid understanding of reviewing engineering drawings and specifications with experience relating the information to ongoing field work
  • Strong work ethic and ability to travel – or commute to work sites where ever they might be
  • Multilingual skills would be a strong asset – particularly French and Spanish

Progression:

The successful candidate will be mentored by senior engineers for a number of years as they develop their skills in the field. In addition the project work, the successful candidate will be challenged with work assignments in design, specification development, work breakdown structure development, scheduling and estimating assignments as they develop and gain experience.

Successful candidates will be able to progress into more senior engineering roles, project coordination and eventually project management roles, or work in the field of cost estimating and project development…
