Job description: The Construction Manager will plan, schedule and manage day-to-day multi-job site concrete construction operations – both residential and commercial – including the supervision of all direct labour and sub contractors. The Construction Manager is responsible to ensure that all concrete project works are safely completed on schedule in compliance with the contract requirements as well as the project budget. All work must be performed efficiently and completed to the highest standards of quality and workmanship. You will be the liaison between the field and the office and utilize your years of experience to provide mentorship to crew team leader and field crew.
Responsibilities
- Manage and lead multi-job site teams to meet safety, quality, environmental, schedule, production and budget requirements of multiple concurrent projects.
- Manage and direct project teams by providing communication, coordination and follow-up to meet project goals and objectives; ensure project scope of work, schedule and budget are clearly defined and understood
- Ensure all works are constructed in accordance with the contract requirements as they relate to the project drawings and specifications.
- Ensure all work products are consistent with all applicable legal codes and regulations, project specifications and standards and industry standards
- Understand construction schedule and proactively anticipate potential roadblocks or changed conditions and work to resolve them before impacting the construction team
- Develop risk management assessments identifying risks and mitigation actions to reduce/eliminate project risks
- Receive, evaluate and resolve all field change requests
- Oversee production of extra work orders; deficiencies; as-built documentation and close out documents.
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, Provincial and local laws, particularly applicable Occupational Health & Safety Acts / Construction Safety Act regulations and environmental requirements as they relate to the scope of work.
- Identify any deficient work and support the development and implementation of corrective actions
- Complete Field Reviews and prepare Field Review Reports including photos and narratives
- Prepare reports detailing status of the project on a weekly basis
- Ensure that staff maintain appropriate records to fulfil the requirements of the contract and provide detailed history of site events and history
- Provide ongoing training and mentoring to field staff to promote employee development
- Maintain high level of morale among employees.
- Help drive the company safety program as per current procedures and pro-actively work to develop and maintain a culture of safety.
- Sourcing and procurement of materials to ensure competitive advantage and best possible process
- Efficiently manage site materials and equipment.
- Communicate regularly with clients as well as Avante personnel and leadership to ensure smooth workflow and schedule adherence
- Keep the Owner informed of significant developments
- Promote the best interest of Company at all times
Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management plus at least 5 years of related experience, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years work experience in the construction industry, with at least 3 years in a team supervisory role. Preference will be given to those applicants with concrete construction experience.
- Legally permitted to work in Canada
