Job description: The Construction Project Manager is responsible for the construction and upgrade of assigned retail stores, gasoline facilities and automated car wash projects $1.5 million – $3 million in Eastern Ontario and Quebec.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all construction and upgrade projects, both long and short term, are effectively planned and timetabled.
  • Ensure that all licenses, permits and approvals are obtained, minimizing delays, fines and penalties.
  • Works collaboratively with, and manages engineering and architectural consultants.
  • Coordinates planned improvements, upgrades and renovations with Territory Managers.
  • Manages the tender process fairly and transparently, and with consideration to cost, reputation, safety and quality.
  • Handles quotations and makes appropriate decisions based on cost, reputation, safety and quality.
  • Works with the MacEwen construction team to ensure timely delivery of equipment, tools and resources.
  • Procures equipment, supplies and services as required.
  • Maintains accurate and complete files for each project.
  • Undertakes site inspections, reporting to the Leadership Team on development progress.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in construction, engineering technology or project management is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years in construction project management is required.
  • Proven experience negotiating contracts.
  • In-depth working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code.
  • Knowledge of the TSSA Liquid Fuel Handling Code is desirable.

Other:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both official languages is desirable. English is essential.
  • AutoCAD drafting experience is an advantage.
  • Must possess a high degree of proficiency with MS Office and MS Project.
  • Must be willing to travel to all MacEwen sites, including occasional overnight.stays.
  • Must have a clean drivers’ license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to multi-task, while remaining organized to successfully complete projects with short deadlines in a busy environment is critical.
