Golder has a new opportunity for a Construction Project Manager to join our Construction Division team on a full-time basis based in Vancouver, BC.
The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for delivering technically challenging Environmental remediation projects as well as developing and assisting the pricing of new project opportunities. Under the direction of the Construction Leader (Operations Managers), the Construction Project Manager will also be responsible for project and construction management.
Specific responsibilities will include full management of projects ranging from $100,000 to $5,000,000 in value, including the following:
- Assisting with and co-ordination of project design and constructability;
- Managing project health and safety; Managing project financials including billing, project costs and responsible for delivering estimated margin monthly or as requested;
- Tracking project cost with HCSS Heavy Job software or alternate;
- Directing, enforce and administer multiple subcontracts and supplier purchase orders;
- Support technical and financial proposals (Heavy Bid) with the Proposal Manager;
- Review and understand the Contract or Agreement Specifications for the work;
- Scheduling projects using MS Project, tracking projects against baseline to actual;
- Training and mentoring junior and intermediate staff;
- Working with field staff to resolve technical and constructability issues, identifying potential cost savings and streamlining field methodologies;
- Assisting senior staff with business development;
- Performing other duties as required.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated self-starter and have the following qualifications:
- Degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering (or equivalent);
- Registered Professional Engineer or Geoscientist, or eligible for registration in BC is an asset
- 3-6 years Project experience as a Construction Project Manager;
- Demonstrated experience in the management of Environmental or Civil engineering projects
- Certification in project management or several years direct project management experience a definite asset;
- Experience in the management of Health and Safety and a demonstrated “Safety-First” focus attitude;
- Knowledge of BC Construction Regulations;
- Experience in estimating, scheduling, cost control (Heavy Bid) and contract management;
- Proven ability to liaise with clients and consultants in the management of site staff and subcontractors;
- Excellent communications skills (written and verbal);
- Available for business travels (remote sites) and extended working hours as required;
- Strong people skills and a team player.
