Job Description
Current NOC code is 7302 for Construction Site Foreman/woman
We are looking for experienced abatement foremen with experience working with Asbestos, Lead, Mould and Ionizing Radiation. Experience is necessary and preference will be given to those with extensive experience.
First consideration will be given to those with experience in working with and the remediation of asbestos, ionizing radiation, mould, lead and general hands on demolition.
Job Responsibilities:
Work within the regulations and maintain compliance for the safe removal of hazardous materials encountered on any given site. Eg: Asbestos, mould, lead, mercury, PCB’s, radioactive substances, rodent excrements that may contain hanta virus and biological wastes.
Supervise and oversee the activities handling hazardous materials.
The ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently (Must be able to liaise with WorkSafe, Senior management, analytical and safety companies)
Must be able to communicate: Method Statements, safety procedures, risk assessments, exposure control plans to his crew and others on a site.
Must be able to arrange for timely delivery of supplies, disposal bins, rental equipment etc.
Must be able to keep accurate records relating to health and safety, methods of work, toolbox meeting forms, site diaries, risk assessments, air monitoring and supplies used and required for each site.
General knowledge of building structure, electrical, plumbing, construction/deconstruction and the use of hand tools
Proficiency with containment set-up and the use of abatement equipment
Proficiency with working with electrical and basic hand tools
Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other project supervisors or managers
Requisition materials and supplies
Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity
Recommend personnel actions such as hiring’s, disciplinary actions, promotions and train new employees.
Prepare production and other reports
Skills & Qualifications Required: Requirements
Experience in the abatement industry (asbestos, ionizing radiation, lead and mould,)
Experience in working as a supervisor and being able to supervise up to a 10-15 man crew.
Working from heights certification
Fall protection certification
Scissor lift certification
WHIMIS certification
Willingness to work smart and hard
Work independently with great attention to detail.
Work occasionally outside of normal working hours
Have a clean driving abstract with a valid class 5 license
Personal attributes required:
UST Be clean shaven and able to wear a full-face respirator
Must be physically fit as supervisors and foremen are required to do physical work
beside the employees they are overseeing.
Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently
Must be able to follow detailed instructions
Must be good at communications with the crew, client and office
Skills considered an asset but not required:
Working from heights
Working in confined spaces
Skilled in working with power tools
Able to drive larger vehicles
Additional benefits:
Medical and dental benefits (after a 6 month probationary period)
Safety equipment supplied (you will not have to purchase your own masks etc) but you will need your own CSA approved steel toed boots.
Wage: $32/hour Full-time, Permanent Based out of Richmond BC but locations encompass the entire lower mainland
