- The Construction Superintendent schedules, organizes, assigns and supervises crews to safely meet the construction targets and allocate workers and equipment as needed to meet these targets within the approved capital, operating budgets, and schedules as well as perform any one or more of the following tasks,
- Work with the scheduler to ensure work is being performed in the proper sequence and timely manner
- Ensure workers are properly trained in their job responsibilities, available and utilized in an effective and efficient manner to meet budget and schedules
- Ensure personal protective equipment is used as required and workers are made aware of the hazards associated with failure to use equipment properly
- Participate in incident investigations for any incident that occurs in his/her workplace
- Lead by example by being safety conscious and promote the safe performance of all work
- Identify and assess client needs and work diligently to respond and solve any problems/issues/concerns in a timely manner
- Ensure crews receive a proper line-up each shift and this line-up is recorded in the shift log book
- Ensure necessary equipment is provided with operating supplies throughout the shift
- Ensure each shift records its shift results in the shift log book and the oncoming shift personnel are made aware of any factor known at the end of shift that may present a hazard; including, any corrective steps taken
- Ensure oncoming and outgoing shifts read and sign shift log book
- Ensure adequate measures are taken to deal with any known hazard that may arise in the course of work under his/her control. Hazards that cannot be eliminated immediately should be reported without delay to higher authority, and personnel are made aware of such hazards and of safety measures to be adopted to minimize them as far as reasonably practicable
- Respond appropriately to any worker concerns and cooperate in their correction. If concerns cannot be resolved or go beyond authority level or ability, take the matter to a higher level
- Ensure any equipment that is rendered unsafe by virtue of a defect or any protection system deemed inoperative is tagged until the defect has been remedied or the protective system reinstated

- Ensure trainees and workers with less experience are placed with experienced safety conscious workers and that the leaders on the shift are aware of these situations and are held accountable for their training
- Evaluate the performance of personnel for competency and work habits with a view to identify additional training, corrective counselling or disciplinary action
- Other such duties as may be assigned
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure full understanding and compliance with company policies and work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other local regulatory requirements
- Have the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
- Fully supports and actively participates in the team safety program based on culture and innovation
- Ensure that any equipment deemed damaged or unsafe by virtue of a defect, or a machine of which any protection system is inoperative, is not used and communicated to the supervisor
- Work closely with other crew members to create and maintain a synergy required to accomplish the shift line-up in the cycle
- Ensure applicable procedures and work standards for all tasks are understood, adhered to and complied at all times for all such work
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the workplace
- Utilize all safety systems as specified within the site safety management system
Pre-Employment Qualifications:
- Pre-employment drug, alcohol and medical testing
- Criminal Record Check (if applicable)
- Full Basic Underground Common Core
- Full Supervisory Common Core
- Minimum 5 years of experience in supervision of mining operations
- Minimum 8 years of experience in underground hard rock mining
- Experience in contract management considered an asset
- Understand technical and operating processes relevant to mine planning and scheduling

- WHMIS

- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Efficient multitasking abilities
- Able to effectively prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
- Proven ability to deal with confidential information
- Able to work in a team environment, be self-motivated and enthusiastic
- Experience with JDE database considered an asset
