Job title: Construction Work Planner

Job description: The Construction Work Planner is responsible for understanding, walking down and creating planned work orders in the work management system for the purpose of project implementation activities for Bruce Power Division Contracts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow all Black and McDonald’s Quality Management system procedures for work planning
  • Work with Project Managers and team to plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate projects to ensure work packages are created, processed and delivered
  • Conduct analysis to determine duration of project activities and identify interdependencies to meet project scope of work
  • Provide support to other stakeholders and groups as required
  • Interpret design documentation for scope installation
  • Write Detailed work instructions to accomplish field implementation -t his may include becoming familiar with and referencing to client station procedures, standards, and specifications
  • Apply Knowledge of construction methods and station configuration to create the work task structure breakdown to implement the project
  • Accumulate all the necessary technical documents for construction activities
  • Preparing work packages for field execution as they relate to the appropriate trade groups
  • Liaison with Design and supplier groups
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization and analytical skills
  • Other related duties as assigned

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous work as a QC Inspector – Electrical preferred
  • Bruce Power Maximo task planning qualifications preferred
  • Communicates Effectively (excellent verbal and written communication skills)
  • Holds Self and Others Accountable (proven ability to accurately handle a high volume of transactions, meet deadlines and prioritize workload)

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of Grade 12.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or College Technical Diploma in related electrical discipline and/or Apprenticeship training and related field Electrical experience

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 2 years of related work experience with project planning
  • Nuclear experience required

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Good communication and computer skills and able to demonstrate an understanding relevant Work Planning or Work Management software tools
  • Experience in planning related discipline work packages
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a variety of people in a professional manner
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Proven ability to accurately handle a high volume of transactions, meet deadlines and prioritize workload
