About this Opportunity

A willingness and ability to work any recognized shift, including weekends, is expected. From time to time, hours of work may be adjusted to suit operational needs.

Job Summary

As stewards of the campus, Facilities Management fosters and enriches an inviting and functional environment that welcomes and supports all who come here. Facilities Management’s customers include Deans, departments, faculty, staff and students. The department’s branches work together as a team to ensure a high standard of customer service delivery, as well as the effective, efficient and safe performance for the operation, development and maintenance of campus buildings.

Processes incoming and outgoing campus mail and delivers /picks up from respective departments. Distributes various items throughout the University campus.

Job Requirements

Skills:

  • Effective communication skills to provide a high level of customer service to all members of the University Community in the performance of the duties of this position
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to lift heavy items, such as mail bags, boxes and equipment
  • Position involves frequent lifting, bending and prolonged periods of work while standing
  • High attention to detail

Specialized Knowledge/Education:

  • Familiarity with Canadian postal standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of the UVIC campus and policies and procedures is desirable
  • A valid class 5 drivers licence

Experience:

  • 5 or more years general office experience or two years mail services experience
