The Department of Child and Youth Care – in the Faculty of Applied Community Studies at Douglas College – is seeking a contract faculty to teach CYCC courses and practicum.

The Role
The Child and Youth Care Department currently offers a part time online Diploma, an on-campus 2-year Child and Youth Care Diploma and a 4-year Bachelor of Child and Youth Care degree.
You will instruct undergraduate students in the Department of Child and Youth Care, maintaining a high quality, learner-centered environment.
Responsibilities
The Department is seeking contract instructors for the following courses:
CYCC 1250 – Supporting Behavioural Change
CYCC 1240 – Praticum
You will be responsible for instructing, facilitating and evaluating student progress in the Child and Youth Care program.
As a contract practicum instructor, you will oversee the learning of students who are practicing skills in selected sites. You will facilitate student learning as they integrate and reflect upon their educational, personal and professional experiences while on practicum and during scheduled seminars. There are three areas you will be responsible for:
- Work site supervision and guidance.
- Group seminars
- Practicum evaluation/feedback component involving written mid-term and final student evaluations/grades
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
The successful candidate will have a Masters degree (Doctorate preferred) in Child and Youth Care or in a closely related field.
Applicants should have experience teaching in educational settings (preferably post-secondary) or community settings (e.g. training, facilitating educational groups, etc.)
Preferred candidate will have experience engaging in relational work with children, youth, and/or families.
Interest and/or proficiency in technology using an online-based teaching & learning platform.
Excellent communication & time management skills.
Willingness to work collaboratively in a team setting.
