In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of our departments across the province will require additional staffing to support our fight against COVID-19; while continuing to provide the best possible health care services to Manitobans.

Manitoba recognizes the hard work and dedication of our front-line heath care providers and we are looking for additional experienced health care providers to offer support during these unprecedented and challenging times, to help provincial efforts to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19.

Position Overview

  • Tracking the vaccine into Vaxport and working with partners to determine the distribution of vaccine to communities outside of Thompson who will travel to Vaxport via air or bus transport to attend immunization appointments
  • Working with the Northern Regional Health Authority (NRHA) to ensure appropriate staffing is in place to provide vaccinations dependent on appointments and timing
  • Create a manual schedule for vaccine to track outside of the current Pedal MD system and ensuring information is entered in the appropriate IT systems
  • Working with the leads in air and bus transportation and communities to provide information and coordinate travel based on established priorities for vaccinations
  • Coordinating with leads to obtain provincially procured resources dependent on need
  • Working with partners to ensure appropriate interpreters and services (meals) for individuals travelling to Vaxport for the vaccine
  • Manage and evaluate the flow of individuals at Vaxport ensuring an orderly distribution of the vaccine to minimize disruption and identify areas for improvement
  • Coordinate the movement of all of the above from a logistical standpoint
  • Working cooperatively with partners including the Thompson Regional Airport Authority, municipal officials, and First Nation communities on the coordination of vaccination efforts
  • Identify issues requiring further input from the Vaxport working group and responding to individual concerns

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Completion of a Professional Certification in Logistics, Procurement or Inventory Control or enrolment in such and maintain status
  • Formal post secondary business education and extensive related experience in Inventory Management, Contract Management and Logistics. A degree or certificate in accounting would be assets for this position
  • Minimum of five years experience in managing complex inventory merchandise and services
  • Experience working with First Nation communities or Indigenous peoples or knowledge of Northern Manitoba communities
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in an ever changing fast paced atmosphere
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Expertise in multitasking for coordination of activities and deadlines
  • Strong and culturally relevant communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook programs
  • Ability to attend to detail
  • Provide information to ensure they develop and understand the inventory management principles required to effectively administer immunization programs to Manitobans
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are needed to build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders
  • Ability to adjust to change and encourage a positive, respectful, and creative team-oriented environment
  • Strong communication skills to interpret/explain policies and procedures to a diverse audience of stakeholders
