Job description: Your Opportunity:

This QI Consultant position reports through the Integrated Quality Management portfolio and is a leader in the development and promotion of best practice in quality improvement (QI). The Quality Consultant is responsible for fostering & embedding a continuous QI culture throughout the Foothills Medical Center site. The consultant supports, coordinates, facilitates and at times leads the provision of QI services at the unit, program, & site levels. This includes developing & maintaining strong working relationships with leadership and clinical staff at the unit, program, and site levels. Through the use of best practices in Improvement Science, the QI Consultant applies this to support teams in achieving success.

Description:

Through collaboration with stakeholders, this position is responsible for: Identifying areas for improvement across the system of care, while seeking to understand the local context to support effective change. Working effectively, with the ability to adapt approach with stakeholders, across multiple service areas who may have competing priorities in developing shared goals and action plans to achieve sustainable outcomes within focused timelines. Have an understanding of a variety of care environments. Influencing culture change through use of the Improvement science for strategic program development with a system’s focus. Possess Project Management skills, with the ability to mentor & coach teams/leaders to build capacity. Introducing & facilitating change management approaches for supporting collaboration across diverse and complex service areas. Planning and leading/facilitating the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of large scale QI activities related to service improvement, patient safety and patient & family centered care. Promoting alignment of efforts with the Quadruple Aim: improving the health of populations, enhancing the patient experience of care, and reducing the per capita cost of health care, while enhancing the provider experience of care. Understanding the HQCA dimensions of quality.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. Minimum of 5 years of recent clinical and/or administrative healthcare experience. Minimum of 5 years of recent work leading a QI project to facilitate quality improvement. AIW Green Belt and IHI Open School training. Expert level knowledge of QI methodology, concepts and tools Skills in literature review and ability to apply best practices into action. – Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale quality improvement projects. Demonstrated leadership capability, including team building skills. Proven ability to work in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment, managing multiple priorities and timelines at once. Demonstrated ability to lead change based on sound change principles and effective relationship-building with a high tolerance for ambiguity. Flexibility and the ability to adjust to changing environments and expectations. Demonstrated ability to recognize knowledge gaps and seek out resources to achieve deliverables. Self-directed and takes initiative with the ability to work independently and interdependently. Team focused and willing to compromise to support the achievement of the collective goals.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Well-developed critical thinking skills and ability to problem-solve. Ability to research, monitor, and analyze data for use in decision making and recommendations. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing which leads and influences stakeholders. Skilled in group facilitation techniques. Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Word – advanced skills; Excel – intermediate skills with experience in data visualization/charts, PowerPoint – basic, Visio – experience; MS teams – facilitation tools, and comfort in using technology for leading virtual meetings. Demonstrated skills in using survey and data analytics tools. Quality Management/Quality Improvement designation (ASQ, IHI or equivalent) – Courses/experience in the following: fundamental statistical concepts (i.e., variability, significance, sample distribution), data analysis and visualization, process mapping, fundamental QI tools (PDSA, root cause analysis, etc.), basic understanding of change management principles i.e., ADKAR.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in clinical field, business, or healthcare administration. Change Management training – Project Management training. Innovation and Design thinking experience. Experience with developing pivot charts and tables.
