Purpose
The Credit Associate, Indirect Ag Financing is responsible for providing support and information to the IAF senior leadership as it relates to the credit adjudication process. The successful candidate provides a high standard of support to the team and contributes to the profitable growth and quality of the IAF portfolio. This position is located in the Winnipeg Commercial Banking Office. The portfolios have seasonality when tight deadlines and occasional extended working hours can be expected.
Accountabilities
Credit adjudication support:
– Completion of credit documentation and submissions in support of customer requests;
– Completing the input of financial statements and/ or customer financial information in Credit Lens with preliminary financial analysis in an accurate and timely manner;
– Completion and ownership of AML duties/name screening/compliance requirements and correspondence;
– Participating in AML/Compliance reports and correspondence preparation;
– Organize, prepare documentation, correspondence and make recommendations relating to security postponement requests;
– Recording information from various sources to complete customer reports and records
– Keeping up to date of changes in accounting practices, federal/ provincial tax regulations, and other factors as they relate to the interpretation of financial statements;
– Ensuring that all relevant documentation is properly stored in the Shared Document Repository (SDR);
– Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions;
– Completing other various duties as assigned by management.
Provide superior customer service to Nutrien Ag Solutions and individuals by:
– Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of IAF and Bank policies and procedures;
– Assisting and provide coverage for Analyst, Operations & Reporting with internal accounting functions and reporting.
– Maintaining a good working relationship with IAF third party partner and all internal partners;
– Assisting overall IAF team as required
– Responding promptly and effectively to requests, IAF third party partners, team members and internal partners;
– Providing other support as required for compliance, credit, client fulfillment activities, and other analysis and deliverables;
– Creating and executing all ad hoc report requests;
– Gathering documentation and financial information required to support internal and external stakeholder requirement packages.
Contribute to the Department’s productivity and service and the Bank’s financial and non-financial objectives by:
– Organizing work to maximize productivity;
– Actively identifying and participating with recommendations/ ideas for process and systems improvements;
– Providing other support as required to IAF management team for compliance, AML, credit, and other analysis and deliverables;
– Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions;
– Completing all function-specific documentation accurately as per Bank standards in order to protect both the organization and the customer;
– Actively pursuing effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct;

Education / Experience / Other Information:
The Credit Officer must have proven financial analysis, good credit judgement and a good knowledge of the Bank’s lending policies, practices and procedures. Critical attention to detail is necessary for success.
They will have interaction with clients and internal partners by gathering information and responding to internal inquiries. They must have strong organizational skills to monitor portfolio requirements, collect and assimilate large volumes of information from various sources and concisely populate the information into a form of credit or compliance communication.
Bachelor of Commerce or Business Degree or similar is preferred with 1- 3 years of related work experience.
Functional Competencies:
- Extremely well organized and ability to multi-task
- Strong organizational skills to monitor portfolio requirements, collect and assimilate large volumes of information
- Credit skills – familiarity with financial statements, preliminary assessment of risk, and drawing conclusions.
- Analytical thinking and problem solving
- Advanced attention to detail required for compliance reviews and reporting
- Knowledge of the agriculture industry considered an asset
- Knowledge or experience with Credit Lens considered an asset
- Knowledge or experience with the Bank’s internal accounting considered an asset
- Good communication skills (oral and written)
- Good Microsoft Office skills
- Interpersonal skills to effectively interface with customers
- Good knowledge of the Bank’s commercial products and services
- Team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
- Ability to work non-standard hours as required
- Ability to travel domestically if required
