Job description: POSITION SUMMARY
As an integral part of the Development Team, the Development Officer – Corporate and Partnerships will help grow fundraising through teamwork, creativity, and major gift annual giving solicitations. This position will help identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors so that the Development team can build and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders to increase support for RMHC-SWO. The Development Officer – Corporate and Partnerships will support the stewardship of our Founding and Forever partner McDonald’s, RMHC Canada National Partners Program accounts, Corporate Donors and grow RMHC-SWO’s Corporate Payroll Giving program. To ensure fair and equitable pay at RMHC-SWO, placement on the salary range will be based on your years of experience, skills and qualifications relevant to the Development Officer – Corporate and Partnerships. Hiring salary range: $55,000 to $65,000. RMHC-SWO offers a 4-day workweek schedule for the employees.

KEY DELIVERABLES

  • Build and foster the development of key relationships with McDonald’s Area Supervisors, Restaurant Managers, and Crew to ensure support, engagement, and ongoing collaboration.
  • Responsible for planning and logistics of the McHappy Day Campaign Gratitude Tour.
  • Responsible for identifying, cultivating, and nurturing sustainable long-term relationships with existing and new corporate donors.
  • Build relationships with donors and key regional stakeholders, elevating program awareness and brand presence and identifying new revenue generation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the chapter leadership team to establish competitive fundraising targets while adhering to budgetary expenditures.
  • Steward a defined list of corporate donors, ensuring regular contact and interactions.
  • Deliver annual Fund development and Donor Stewardship Plans.
  • Meet fundraising deliverable targets annually and identify new opportunities for revenue generation.
  • Successfully grow, steward, and foster corporate payroll-giving programs.
  • Serve as an RMHC-SWO representative for cheque presentations, donor meetings, speaking engagements, and community fundraising events, as well as seeking out new opportunities for donor engagement.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Leadership

  • As the stewardship lead on McHappy Day, the Development Officer – Corporate and Partnerships is responsible for overseeing the team to ensure that the annual campaign addresses National and Regional goals.
  • Act as liaison with RMHC Canada, creating and leading all non-McHappy Day fundraising initiatives with McDonald’s SWOR network (Fries for Good, Round Up Challenges, etc). Activities include creative direction, asset generation, activation of the program, and donor stewardship throughout the process.
  • Act as a liaison with RMHC Canada, stewarding RMHC Canada National Partnership donors.
  • Participate in creating, managing, and evaluating annual Fund Development and Donor Stewardship plans.
  • Contribute to the development of an annual operating budget.
  • Accountable for delivering revenue objectives in areas for which this role is responsible (Corporate and Program-specific goals as identified).

Donor Relations & Fund Development

  • Manage a portfolio of assigned corporate donors.
  • Participate in each step of the donor pipeline, including identification, qualification through research, cultivation, request for support, prompt follow-up, stewardship, and recognition.
  • Develop donor strategies along with materials to renew and upgrade donor gifts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders to increase fundraising outcomes.
  • Work with the Director, Development and Community Relations and the Associate Director, Development to develop and implement acknowledgment and stewardship practices and plans to ensure donor retention.
  • Develop and implement strategies and actively seek opportunities to increase the number of donors being engaged to increase profile and provide fundraising opportunities and revenue growth.
  • Liaise with businesses, community groups, service clubs, schools, churches etc. to coordinate speaking engagements, donation drives, and corporate giving
  • Working closely with the Director, Development and Community Relations and Associate Director, Development to secure event sponsorship, seek out new corporate sponsors, and explore new revenue opportunities for events.
  • Work closely with the CEO, Director, Development and Community Relations, and Associate Director, Development to cultivate the McDonald’s relationships.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the McDonald’s Area Supervisors, Store Managers, and Crew to steward and support their fundraising efforts.
  • Update donor/prospect information into Raiser’s Edge in accordance with the established standards for Raiser’s Edge usage.

Programs

  • Responsible for the logistics planning and execution of McHappy Day stewardship
  • Establish and execute market and store-level fundraising strategies, create activation guidelines for front-line staff, and coordinate volunteer activities across SWOR
  • Plan and execute all non-McHappy Day fundraising initiatives within the McDonald’s network, including but not limited to collaborating with RMHC Canada and McDonald’s Canada to coordinate public campaigns, engage regional McDonald’s leadership in pre-event activities (From OO, to Operations Supervisor team to crew)
  • Plan, execute and grow the annual payroll giving campaign to ensure year-over-year growth.
  • Responsibilities include developing fundraising strategies, activities, and communication materials to be presented to current and new corporate partners.

Communications
Support RMHC-SWO Communications efforts overall by:

  • Speak on behalf of RMHC-SWO at community events and meetings.
  • Support the Community Relations team by providing relevant information for the RMHC-SWO social media channels and newsletters.
  • Ensure contributions are appropriately recognized and assist in coordinating stewardship materials with major donors regarding the impact of their giving.
  • Analyze data and prepare written materials, including tailored proposals, correspondence, briefing notes, progress reports, and planning documents.

QUALIFICATIONS:
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • College or University degree in a related field: Event Management, Business, Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management
  • Experience working with Donor Software- Experience with Raisers Edge is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
  • Skilled in public speaking, persuasive writing, active listening, and ability to adapt messaging to different audiences.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated understanding of fundraising standards and processes (including knowledge of CRA guidelines).
  • Canadian Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to building and maintaining long-term relationships with donors.
  • A commitment to working collaboratively in a team environment with staff, volunteers, families, donors, and the public.
  • Passion for the mission of RMHC-SWO.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. (the weight of a box of paper).
  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Possess a clean driving record and a reliable mode of transportation.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Check

HOURS OF WORK:

Monday – Thursday, 9:00 – 5:30 pm (evenings and weekends as required)
Ability to flex schedule around meetings, speaking engagements, and events.
