About the Position We’re looking for an established, collaborative finance professional with experience delivering strategic and tactical financial leadership to a rapidly growing business. You will be responsible for finance, payroll, supply chain and operations support. Specifically, you will be responsible for all areas relating to daily operations of the accounting department and financial reporting, including: oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, budgeting, forecasting, and accurate and timely financial statements. You will also have responsibilities for supplier management and overseeing procurement activities. You will focus on analyzing performance, highlighting opportunities, and increasing company effectiveness by building and implementing resources that make us more efficient and profitable. Practically speaking, you will be responsible for the following: Finance: – Manage and oversee daily operations of accounting team, including: accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, processing month and year end accounting entries, check runs, wire transfers, debt activity – Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close – Coordination of annual SR & ED filings and tax return preparation with external advisors – Quarterly HST/GST tax filings – Support CEO with budget and cash flow forecasting activities; including financial modelling – Support of fund raising activities and management of government programming, rebates, tax credits, grants and other funding the company is eligible to receive as we continue to scale Payroll: – Manage bi-weekly disbursement for approximately 30 employees – Ensure the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions and terminations are accurate and timely – Work with Ceridian to ensure proper reports, tax filings and other payroll requirements are met – Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to increased efficiency Supply Chain: – Working closely with hardware engineering, and software teams in overseeing supplier engagement and materials ordering – Liaise with operations team regarding inbound product delivery timing – Manage supply chain relationships and contracts Operational Support: – Manage contract administration activities including NDAs, customer agreements, and vendor agreements – Some facilities management and coordination with landlord as pertains to our tenant’s lease agreement Success in this role will be about going beyond just reporting the numbers – it will require an ability to think strategically about the business and its operations as a whole, and to translate the analytics into actionable ideas to elevate performance and increase growth. The Details This is a full-time, permanent position working a hybrid role both in the office and from home. You’ll earn a highly competitive base salary commensurate with experience. Qualifications * Post secondary diploma or degree in Accounting or Finance * 5+ years’ experience in a high-level finance position * Experience in a start up environment working with funding would be preferred * Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control principles, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) * Experience creating management reports, and providing analysis and operational direction to achieve desired results * Excellent computing and analytics skills, including high proficiency in MS Office products and advanced Excel skills * Experience creating and implementing scalable best practices How to Apply Our online application will give you the option to apply to this role as a complete person – not just a resume.
