Job title: Director of Finance – Tech Startup

Job description: This key role will be part of a larger finance team, and will report directly to the CFO. As a high-growth company, they are experiencing double-digit growth. No two days will be the same! * Oversee the preparation and approval of all financial reporting materials for stakeholders. * Oversee financial forecasting and cash flow requirements. * Lead the identification and implementation of new accounting and reporting systems. * Manage treasury functions, including banking arrangements, cash management, assessing and managing foreign exchange risks and government grant programs. * Oversee the update and implementation of all finance, human resources and information technology-related policies and procedures and recommend improvements to the internal control systems in place and manage the systems. * Create and implement the annual business plan and budgets, working closely with the entire leadership team. * Identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement in the organization with assistance and recommendations from all teams, to ensure the continual growth and success of the Company * Involved in M&A activities, including: due diligence, Purchase Price accounting and integration into quarterly close process of consolidated entity. MPI encourages applications from minorities, women, the disabled and all other qualified applicants * Technical * Must be a qualified Canadian and/or US CPA. * 10+ years experience in a leadership role within Accounting and Finance. * Have completed mergers or acquisitions, including Purchase Price accounting and integration into quarterly close process of consolidated entity. * Audit firm background is preferred but not mandatory. * Public company experience is an asset. * Understanding of Equity based compensation, including stock options and share issuances *(must have!)* * Experience with multiple currencies *(must have!)*. * Other: * Leadership experience – able to inspire and manage a team, within a high-growth environment. * Experience working in a high-growth and fast-paced environment; experience working at start-up companies preferred * Strong sense of ownership and ability to speak up and take action within an environment that moves quickly – cannot be a passive contributor and await direction; must be a confident self-starter and proven leader. * Self-motivated and detail-oriented individual who will drive process improvements * Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills * Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment * Able to work independently and as part of a team coupled with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities * Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities within structured deadlines and deliverables * The ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively * Must embrace diversity / working with a wide range of team members – eg. must be able to simplify requirements associated with complicated accounting and finance principles to non-finance staff. * Insatiable curiosity and exceptional work ethic. * Ability to work from home with a bias to action and to achieve velocity in their work Our client is a technology company disrupting the real estate industry – they are the world’s only open, digital, customer centric marketplace connecting individuals who want to complete Real Estate and related transactions with the best service providers for them.
