Director of Logistics

Our client a medium size logistics company is currently searching for a Director of Logistics to join their growing team! This role is located in the GTA and is a great opportunity to work with an awesome company. This role will be supporting the growth of the company through sales and operations initiatives

Responsibilities:

• Negotiate and establish carrier contracts encompassing rates, fuel and accessorials based on defined customer needs and client requirements
• Leverage company’s overall business volumes with targeted carriers to maximize the most optimal rate and carrier packages.
• Continuously monitor carrier on-time delivery performance to ensure they meet or exceed standards. Proactively follow-up with carriers where service falls short. Put a plan in place to ensure good performance is maintained and communicated internally.
• Develop carrier partnerships. Work with them to leverage their areas of strength according to clients needs
• Play an integral role in the customer RFP/ bid process for new and existing business opportunities.
• Follow up to ensure that all carriers selected are in compliance with customer’s requirements as per procedures and guidelines. Manage the process of effectively on-boarding new carriers that can meet the standards of both company and our Customers.
• Keep abreast of carrier industry trends, issues and marketable costs. Keep internal departments up-to-date.
• Develop / enhance processes to ensure efficiency within the department.

Skills and Qualifications:

• High school diploma.
• College Diploma / University Degree in Business, Logistics or International Trade is an asset.
• CITT and P. Log are assets.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in logistics / transportation operations of which 3 years are sourcing carriers, negotiating rate contracts and maintaining relationships.
