Job Description
What You’ll Be Doing
Reporting to the Senior Director Automotive Finance, you will own all outcomes across the Automotive Finance business relevant to the management of existing products, and the development of new products. In partnership with Director Pricing and Account management and Risk, will focus on ensuring maximum risk-adjusted returns in product initiatives. You will also being a key voice in business transformation by driving the implementation of new product and channels within the business as they are developed.
How You’ll Succeed
- Strategic Leadership – Take ownership and accountabilities for the end-to-end value chain for all Automotive products. Automotive Finance, revenue, cost and risk outcomes from CIBC’s existing book of $5 Billion dollars in auto loans. Work with partners to drive the development of advanced internal credit, pricing and profit optimization strategies. Critically review and optimize price, dealer reserve and dealer relationship priorities to optimize long-term risk adjusted profitability. Develop and execute strategies to optimize operations so as to drive out cost while simultaneously optimizing dealer and client experience. Work with VP Automotive Finance and Unsecured Lending, Senior Director New Channels and Products, and other transformation partners as required to develop strategic plans, and then own the delivery of these plans within Automotive Finance business to achieve business objectives including revenue, profit, volume and market share goals.
- Drive Growth – Support the next phases of product line expansion by working with the Senior Director, Automotive Finance and New Channels and Products to build a multi-horizon product improvement and product development roadmap. Ensure that new product constructs are developed in line with the evolving capabilities of the business.
- Partner for Success – Own key relationships relevant to the management of Automotive product including but not limited to: Technology, external vendors and New Products and Channels partners as it concerns improving developing and deploying new products; ACC, dealers and OEMs as it concerns the sale and management of existing products; with Analytics and Decision Science to ensure foundational reporting and key analytic tactics are in place; and Risk, Compliance and Legal as it concerns the foundations of our existing products. Work with relevant Transformation partners to meticulously define requirements for our technology and operations infrastructure of the future.
- Simplify Processes – Work with internal and external partners to drive and implement process simplification initiatives. Develop expertise in industry best practices and interact with partners to develop solutions; Proactively identify short and long term product/process improvements, bring forward innovative ideas and opportunities; Work with New Channels and Products partners to anchor long-term improvements into a multi-phased plan with a clear end-to-end value chain target state.
- Product Management – Manage and provide oversight for daily product management activities. Drive all elements of product positioning and influence pricing strategy to ensure alignment of strategic objectives; Lead and manage the implementation of strategic reviews and associated tactics – including competitive product placement; Monitor market environment (consumer, technology, competition and government/regulatory agencies) to understand the impact as it relates to the product; Ensure comprehensive competitive information on market penetration, product capabilities and initiatives is maintained
- People Management/ Leadership – Create and sustain a high performing, inspired workplace which is consistent with the values of CIBC and ensure that progressive approaches are used in the management of human resources. This includes: champion coaching model for managers; align employee reward and recognition around positive customer experience; ensuring consistent Performance Management practices throughout the business; career and succession planning; calibration sessions within team and across division; attracting & developing top talent to fill key roles in the team, in support of the evolving business.
Who You Are
- You can demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and experience of the practices, procedures and principles of product management. University degree and MBA, or equivalent business experience
- Strong knowledge of banking and retail lending, including 3+ years’ experience in Automotive Finance, including P&L accountability and product management.
