The Early Childhood Educator Registry (Registry) is the legislated authority responsible for the certification of Early Childhood Educators (ECE) and ECE Assistants, the investigation of complaints regarding the competence and conduct of ECEs and ECE Assistants and the assessment and recommended approval of post-secondary early childhood education programs in British Columbia (BC).

The ECE Program Coordinator is responsible for the development of ECE curriculum and resources in post-secondary education programs across the province; development of policies, procedures and standards regarding ECE programs offered; supporting the Ministry’s strategic priority through the development and implementation of occupational competencies; and leading ECE Program Analysts responsible for the review of post-secondary early childhood education programs and assessment of individual applications for certification.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent.

Two years related experience in all the following:

  • Supervising, leading and mentoring staff
  • Developing and evaluating standards, policies and curriculum
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders
  • Working in early care and learning sector
  • Experience managing projects and leading project teams
  • Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which may include a criminal records check, and/or Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check, and/or enhanced security screening checks as required by the ministry (Note: It is important that you read the job posting carefully to understand the specific security screening requirements pertaining to the position).

PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN TO APPLICANTS WITH:

  • Valid Early Childhood Educator certification in BC (or eligibility to hold).
  • Experience in national and international post-secondary program assessment and evaluation.
  • Experience working in professional regulation and/or regulatory role; monitoring compliance and taking enforcement action.

Provisos:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid BC class 5 driver’s license.
  • May be required to use own vehicle, with appropriate insurance coverage, on an expense account basis.
  • Travel throughout the Province is required for this position. Frequency of travel will be dependent upon circumstances.
