The Learning Division plays a central role in facilitating the renewal and transformation of BC’s K-12 education system through personalized learning. The Division and the Inclusive Education Branch exemplify personalized learning principles (e.g., cooperation, creativity, innovation, social responsibility) in our work and in how we engage with others. The Division’s areas of responsibility include Inclusive Education, Indigenous Education, Early Learning &Strategic Priorities, Mental Health, Student Wellness and Safety, and French Programs.

The Education Officer reports directly to the Director of Inclusive Education.

In this role you will propose, develop, and support strategic direction for the design and implementation of K-12 provincial learning frameworks and programs (including services and supports for students with disabilities and diverse abilities), based on a thorough knowledge of current policy and practice, emerging priorities, government strategic directions, as well as jurisdictional and academic research. Provide leadership and expertise related to current K-12 BC learning supports and system-wide policy. Consult and collaborate with educators and education partners to evaluate and recommend strategies related to educational and social outcomes for students. Work with partners across government to develop and analyze the efficiency and effectiveness of government-supported programs.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Degree in Education (Special Education preferred) or an equivalent combination of education/experience with considerable recent related experience including:
  • Experience working in the K-12 education system in a position related to Inclusive (Special) Education
  • Experience planning, developing, implementing and evaluating policy and programs.
  • Experience teaching in the field of K-12 inclusive (special) education; or equivalent experience working with teachers and other educators in the field of K-12 inclusive (special) education.
  • Experience in effective project management, including managing, planning, and organizing complex large-scale projects
  • Experience selecting, managing, facilitating, and leading high-profile professional teams comprised of educational stakeholders.
  • Experience working on numerous and diverse projects including developing content for project-related service contracts to achieve business goals.
