The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs is seeking an innovative, strategic and collaborative education specialist with expertise in developing and delivering education, training and outreach programs, using a variety of tools (e.g. on-line educational tools, guidebooks/workbooks, webinars, workshops, etc.).
What can I expect to do in this role?
You will be responsible for leading the design, development and delivery of education, training and outreach programs and resources for ministry program areas targeting farmers. The overall goal of these programs/resources is to increase the adoption of best management practices that protect rural soil, water, air and ecological resources.
Working as part of a diverse team, you will:
- lead all stages of the development of programs, including analysis, design, development, delivery and evaluation
- work collaboratively with ministry staff, and key ministry stakeholder groups (e.g. agriculture industry, non-government organizations, other ministries and levels of government)
- develop comprehensive education, outreach and training programs using various delivery methods, including on-line educational tools, manuals, guidebooks, webinars, workshops and other alternative methods

How do I qualify?
Knowledge:
- You have knowledge of adult education principles and practices, and emerging theories, trends and methodologies, including on-line technologies to conduct needs assessments, design, develop and evaluate a range of education, training and outreach programs using a variety of techniques (e.g. on-line educational tools, print material and workbooks, face-to-face events, e-learning, peer-to-peer learning, etc.).
- You have knowledge and understanding of the agri-food industry and environmental issues that impact the agricultural sector.
Project management, coordination and leadership skills:
- You have project leadership skills to plan and implement multiple concurrent projects, provide advice and direction, ensure efficient use of resources and ensure that timelines and deliverables are met.
- You have budget management skills to prepare cost-benefit analyses, plan and control project budgets.
- You have evaluation skills to monitor and evaluate programs, services and products, report on results and recommend improvements.
Communication, consultation and interpersonal skills:
- You have communication skills and an ability to use technology-based methods to prepare/deliver presentations, facilitate meetings, webinars, etc., and to write/edit technical materials, reports, resources and other educational materials.
- You have interpersonal, consultation and relationship building skills to work with diverse groups and build partnerships across the ministry.
Procurement and contract management skills:
- You have knowledge of procurement and contract management policies and procedures to plan, develop, manage and evaluate the tendering, procurement and contract management process for external service providers.
Computer skills:
- You are proficient with computer software used for data analysis, database management, word processing, presentations, graphic design and illustration, to prepare materials, research data and maintain program information.
Salary Range: $65,401 – $94,239 per year
