Job description: We’re looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable Education Coordinator to join our team based in Calgary for the fall school term. Come work and learn with us in the outdoor classroom!
During the warmer months (Sep-Oct), you will be involved in the direct delivery of forest education programs to students at outdoor field sites in Kananaskis and Rocky Mountain House. During Nov-Dec, you will travel with your colleagues to both urban and rural school communities to deliver engaging classroom and school assembly presentations in topics related to energy, electricity and natural resources.
This is a great opportunity to build your facilitation and presentation skills, while working alongside a team of passionate, dedicated educators!
WAGES AND TERM
This is a 16-week, full-time term from September 1 to December 18, 2015. Wages are $24/hour, based on a 36.25 hour work week, plus 6% vacation pay.

Qualifications:
- A degree or background in education, science, environmental or related fields, or a combination of relevant education, work and life experiences.
- Some experience teaching or leading outdoor groups, working with students, and/or delivering education programs.
- A well-rounded understanding of the science and issues related to Alberta’s natural resources and environment.
- Storytelling, creativity and an ability to identify and capitalize on teachable moments.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, interact with students of all ages, and take on a variety of education assignments, including in small towns and school communities in central-southern Alberta.
- You are a flexible, resilient and good-natured travel companion. Due to the nature of our work visiting schools and field sites around the province, frequent travel (including some overnights) and overtime is required (equivalent time-off-in-lieu provided).
- You must be a safe, competent driver with a clear abstract (vehicle not required), and have current standard first aid. Additional safety training a desired asset.
