Connecting our Welland and Pelham community by sharing the history and stories of our residents through exhibits, programs and events is our vision. The Welland Museum is the place to live, learn and explore our past, present and future.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Manager and the Board Executive, the successful incumbent will act as the education liaison between school boards, and other educational agencies. You will be responsible for the development, promotion and implementation of unique, fun and educational programs based on school curriculum and created from the museum’s collection. The creation of recreational and family programming being offered at for the museum collection will also be a part of this role.
As the successful candidate, you will bring:
- A minimum of 2 years teaching experience, involving curriculum based programs and units of study.
- University degree or college degree, Ontario College of Teachers’ certification preferred.
- Displayed knowledge of up to date Ontario School curriculum, policies and procedures will be an asset.
- Bilingual candidate preferred (French), with excellent written and oral skills.
- Experience working with local Indigenous and community educators.
- A high attention to detail, motivation and ability to work independently and lead a group.
- Computer skills and good organization skills
Additionally, you will also take the lead on:
- Development and implementation of curriculum base educational and recreational programs for elementary and secondary students.
- Create educational promotional materials such as brochures, virtual presentations via zoom and/or Power Point presentations for teachers and educators.
- Create and promote family fun recreational programs through brochures, virtual presentations for online social media and on site events.
