Grade/Salary: H0:06: $33.94 to $42.43 per hour (Commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN Compensation Policy)

Digital Education provides an array of training approaches that includes instructor-led, blended and online learning with a post-training performance support tools on a variety of clinical and scheduling applications for up to 7,000 staff, clinicians and clinical learners annually. Overview of Position:
We are looking for an individual with a passion for excellence in instructional design, eLearning development, and facilitation who is excited by the challenge of a dynamic environment. As an Education Specialist, you will be working with clinicians, administrative, managerial, research and technical staff whose computer skills range from basic to advance. You will be supporting staff whose goal is to provide exemplary patient care, innovative research and teaching.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As an integral member of Digital Education, the principal responsibilities of the EDUCATION SPECIALIST include:
- Designing and developing content, experiences, and other solutions to support the acquisition of new knowledge and skills
- Delivering effective education and training using a variety of training modalities (e.g. face-to-face, blended, & virtual learning) and performance support for a variety of clinical and business applications, as well as privacy and cyber security
- Utilizing inquiry-based assessment to assess, analyze, and evaluate the effectiveness of the training and education programs
- Utilizing project management methodology and collaborating with project teams and subject matter experts to design, develop and implement training and education programs, including the maintenance of all courseware
- Working with multimedia technologies to design and maintain virtual training, eLearning, online documentation and training performance support tools
- Providing education consultation services and support to stakeholders and project teams
- Providing quality customer service in the delivery of educational services
- Providing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned or requested
- Working in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contravention’s of the Act, in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Completion of a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education, or recognized equivalent
- Certification with the Institute for Performance and Learning (CTP or CTDP designations), preferred
Experience & Competencies:
- Minimum three (3) years of instructional design, required
- Minimum three (3) years of learning facilitation, required
- Proven experience in all aspects of instructional design and implementation for online and classroom learning, required
- Demonstrated experience with project management from planning through to execution & evaluation, required
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with strong collaboration skills, required
- Excellent problem recognition and solving abilities, required
- Effective planning and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to set priorities and effectively meet milestones, required
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office 2016 suite of applications and Internet/Intranet environments, required
- Demonstrated proficiency with eLearning authoring tools, (e.g. Adobe Cloud, Storyline, Lectora, and/or Vyond), required
- Ability to assume responsibility and work on own initiative in the coordination of information from multiple sources, required
- Excellent customer service skills including demonstrated ability to work well with multiple and competing demands, required
- Experience working in a health care or corporate environment, an asset
Requirements:
- Ability to travel between hospital sites
While core training hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00-4:00, the successful applicant will need to occasionally flex hours for an earlier start or later finish; evening or weekend facilitation may sometimes be required
