Job Description:

As the Finance Manager within Energy Settlements at our client, you will oversee financial modeling, client interactions, and project-based work within energy markets, specifically within our Demand Response division. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient transactions and agreements, utilizing your expertise in financial analysis. Your strong attention to detail and knowledge of processes and controls will be instrumental in delivering exceptional services to our client’s customers.

Main Responsibilities & Duties: * Lead the end-to-end settlement process, including documentation, verification, and reconciliation of transactions.

  • Continuously evaluate and enhance settlement processes to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of billing intelligence services, including predictive energy invoices, invoice validation, and related advisory services.
  • Manage project financial reporting and build financial modeling for new business lines.
  • Translate market energy programs into financial reports for management decision-making.
  • Coach and supervise the Settlement Analyst, who collects and analyzes customer energy data and calculates financial payments for Demand Response energy market programs.
  • Design and develop automated tools to continuously improve delivery and customer service.
  • Support the business development team by analyzing energy data and calculating financial impacts for potential customers.
  • Maintain strong internal controls to manage operational and financial risks.
  • Handle and resolve settlement-related disputes and discrepancies, working with all parties involved to find equitable solutions.
  • Research changes in North American energy market program rules and settlement processes.
  • Support and lead special projects on an ad-hoc basis.

Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary education in business administration, finance, accounting, engineering, or a similar area of study.
  • 3+ years of experience in settlement operations or a related field.
  • Intermediate Excel skills for data manipulation, analysis, calculation, and reporting.
  • Experience reviewing and documenting processes; implementing controls and improvements.
  • Experience researching topics and presenting findings.
  • Experience with managing at least 1 direct report (i.e., coaching, supervising, etc.).
  • Exposure to automation tool development, including work with software developers, designing/testing end-user computing tools (e.g., VBA-based macros).
  • Knowledge, interest, or exposure to energy markets.

  • High attention to detail and a consistent focus on the quality of deliverables.
  • Process-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage deadlines.
  • Technical aptitude and the ability to collaborate with IT/technology teams.
  • Effective and confident communicator keen to advise and service customers.
  • Self-starter who works independently and takes the initiative to drive improvements.
