The Opportunity
The Enterprise IT Project Manager reports directly to the Director, IT PMO and is focused on delivering Information technology related projects. This role provides project management services including creation of project charters, managing project initiation processes, project budgets, the development of the technical requirements documentation, proof of concept testing, development of the project management plans, executing the project plan, tracking and reporting on projects and closing projects.
This position also includes acquiring resources and coordinating efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The project manager oversees quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
What You Will Do
- Create project charters and all corresponding project management documentation from initiation to closure.
- Assemble detailed project plans.
- Track key project milestones, budget, resource availability and adjust project plans and/or resources.
- Manage teamwork assignments, direct and monitor work efforts on a daily basis, identify resource needs, perform quality review; and escalate functional, quality and timeline issues appropriately.
- Negotiate with department managers for the acquisition of required personnel to work on the project and where necessary, determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants.
- Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Coordinate communication with all areas of the enterprise that are impacted by the scope, budget, risk, and resources of the work effort being managed.
- Assist Project Director in partnering with senior management of the business community to identify and prioritize opportunities for utilizing IT to achieve the goals of the enterprise.
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
- Conduct project reviews and create recommendations in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
- Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
Who You Are
- Education: University Degree or college diploma in the field Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent work experience; Project Management Institute certification or successful completion of a recognized project management curriculum is desirable; PMP certification is strongly desirable; Agile exposure or certifications and ITIL exposure or certifications considered an asset.
- Experience: 7+ years direct work experience in a project management capacity, including 2 or more years managing IT Infrastructure or application projects; experience with various project management information systems and tools; experience with managing IT Infrastructure, application development/ deployment, and SAAS implementation projects; must possess extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of project management methodologies and tools, resource management practices and change management techniques; able to manage multiple cross-functional projects of medium to high complexity with impact to the enterprise; experience with Real Estate Investment/Asset Management and/or Property Management firms considered an asset.
- Relationship Skills: Very strong relations management and solid facilitation capabilities; superior oral and written communication and presentation skills; ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships as part of a team; ability to exercise confidentiality; strong customer focus and service orientation.
- Organizational/Multi-Task Skills: Ability to allocate one’s time effectively, work under pressure and manage tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities, adapt to new ideas and constant changes; excellent technical, problem solving skills; basic project management skills; ability to self-motivate, self-manage and work independently with minimal direction; highly organized; flexible to scheduling.
