(Maximum 35 hrs/week Wage: $17 per hour) April to June , September to December 2017

The Long Point Region Conservation Authority invites applications for a Environmental Education Supply Instructor located at Backus Heritage Conservation Area. This job placement will be on an as-needed scheduled basis and will support program delivery.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Natural Sciences, Outdoor Recreations, Education, Environmental studies or related discipline
• Member in good standing with Ontario College of Teachers would be an asset
• Proficiency in a second language would be an asset (French)
• Demonstrated experience in leading environmental education programs to students from elementary to secondary levels applying a variety of methodologies, particularly outdoor and experiential education
• Must provide a satisfactory police record check and driver’s abstract
• Current First Aid/CPR

Duties / Responsibilities:

• Successfully complete program orientation and instructor training
• Within an as-scheduled/on-call basis deliver outdoor education programming to students from K-Grade12
• Support the preparation, maintenance and repair of programming materials and equipment.
• Assist with program development and review

Requirements:

• Scheduling flexibility and availability: providing support for service delivery
• Strong verbal communication skills required for the delivery of educational programming and public presentations
• Working knowledge of the provincial education curriculum
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work a minimum of 0 hours per week to a maximum of 35 hours per week from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday
