Job description: Exciting opportunity for an experienced estimator to join our well-established, growing, forward-thinking construction build client in Edmonton! As a member of the estimating team you will provide estimating and subcontractor costing from the budgeting and estimating stage through to the contract letting and planning stage.

Responsibilities:

• Lead project securement activities including scope definition and clarification, preconstruction planning, estimate development and delivery
• Provide preconstruction services including preparation of preliminary budgets, cost plans, and value engineering opportunities
• Participate in and develop win strategies, including risks and opportunities
• Determine general expenses and provide input into margins/fees
• Oversee tendering and assist with awarding of contracts
• Collaborate with subcontractors

Requirements:

• 3+ years of estimating experience in the institutional and commercial construction industry
• Experience in project coordination, management, or business development would be considered an asset
• Collaborative approach to delivering results through strong relationships with subcontractors and team members
• Engineering or engineering technology or related construction discipline preferred
• Knowledge and experience with estimating techniques
• Knowledge of tendering processes for design-build and construction management contracts
• Commercial construction knowledge; understanding of plans, specifications, methods and procedures
• Extensive knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity take off procedures, sub-trade procurement, pricing and bid closing procedures
• Ability to handle multiple projects at once
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, OneNote), On-Screen Takeoff, Earthworks or similar
• Outstanding customer service/client relation skills
• Must be a team player
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
