The Opportunity
The EVP, Business, Commercial & Agriculture role is responsible for the overall leadership, operational and financial performance of the corporate, independent business, syndications, and agriculture areas of business. This position develops and oversees the execution of the annual business plan; sales and service strategy; monitors results and ensures ongoing profitability, retention, growth and mitigation of risk in the areas managed.
The incumbent is a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and collaborates with the other members of the SMT in delivering and achieving overall corporate results under the direction of the CEO. The EVP Business, Commercial & Agriculture, as a member of the SMT, is also responsible for leading and championing our corporate culture.

Key Accountabilities
- Provides strategic leadership for these business units by developing, implementing, and monitoring operations strategies and plans that align and support the overall corporate business plan and strategic direction of the organization.
- Ensures strategic objectives are translated into successful tactical plans with measurements in place to monitor progress and manage risk.
- Participates in cFCU board meetings as an SMT member, collaboratively engaging and communicating with board members to as they exercise their organizational oversight and strategic responsibilities.
- Promotes and drives efficiencies, profitable growth, long-term member relationships and market penetration. Collaborates with senior leaders on the SMT to build capabilities across teams to achieve targeted business results in the division.
- Ensures continuous improvement occurs in sales and service delivery capabilities, that maximize growth and optimize efficiencies.
- Identifies key priorities and initiatives utilizing technology, tools and resources.
- Provides input and helps develop and execute long and short-term initiatives required to achieve cFCU’s annual business plan.
- Works collaboratively with senior executives and the CEO to achieve short and long-range objectives for the organization.
- Develops and oversees the operation and capital budgets for assigned areas of the business, presenting budgets and proposals to the SMT for review; ensures successful adherence and drives performance to plan.
- Visibly leads, proactively manages, develops and coaches direct reports, sets departmental goals and, evaluates performance/progress relative to objectives set, and provides regular feedback.
- Promotes an environment that champions employee engagement through trust, accountability, innovation, and development to create high performing leadership and empowered employee teams.
- Provides expertise to sales team leadership, particularly on large complex deals within the portfolio.
- Adjudicates large commercial credit applications that exceed team members’ delegated lending limits, up to limit as assigned by Risk & Credit Services.
- Leads the identification of external strategic partners to compliment and expand the suite of products and services for members; regularly assesses local competition and identifies local market opportunities.
- Oversees a coordinated and targeted plan to identify and initiate contact with members, partners, community leaders, centres of influence (COI) and prospects to strengthen, protect and grow the book of business.
- Continually works to build connectFirst’s brand and reputation as a valued business partner known for expertise, market understanding and exceptional member experience.
- Drives an exceptional sales and service culture that results in a superior member and employee experience.
- Ensures the execution of proactive sales activities across all teams to provide broad, multi-product banking solutions to members by focusing on the key business drivers that lead to effective sales behaviours and business results.
- In partnership with Risk & Credit Services, monitors the business risk profile ensuring acceptable quality of portfolio and member base; compliance controls and processes are integrated into business operating activities; compliance with all regulatory policies and guidelines.
- Acts as a business partner across the organization building positive and supportive relationships that enable and encourage cross-functional collaboration, innovation and operational efficiency.
Experience &/or Education Requirements
- 10+ years of prior experience in the commercial banking sector in a senior level role involving a substantial portfolio of clients.
- Experience leading multiple teams while building a reputation of a successful leader of leaders.
- Experience with leading multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proven experience and track record of sustained business growth in challenging market conditions.
- A Bachelor’s Degree or college diploma in business administration, finance, economics, or in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation
