Like family, we support our staff to always do better. With over 70 locations spanning from coast to coast, and trade links around the globe, P&H is growth-oriented, diversified and vertically integrated with operations spanning across grain trading, handling and merchandising, as well as crop inputs, flour milling and feed mills. Skills and experience for the next step in your career. The Facility Foreman will be responsible for the overall performance, maintenance and repair of the facility, and will supervise all Operators at the location. The Facility Foreman will oversee quality control measures on incoming and outgoing shipments and the maintenance and compliance of a safe working environment. Your day-to-day activities will include:Responsible for the binning and blending of all incoming grain including maximizing all blending possibilities and correct binning according to grade, protein, moisture and grading factors.Ensure that grain is moved through the plant in a timely manner and the grain cleaners and dryers are working to capacity while maintaining quality standards.Isolate spoiling inventory to reduce contamination and loss.Oversee the General Operation of the ElevatorOversee that bin boards are being marked appropriately and samples are collected and graded accurately.Supervise all loading and unloading operations within the plant and manually transfer sample to scales and accurately record data.Ensure elevator has space to accommodate incoming inventory and is clean and prepared to receive shipments as scheduled.Fill in as extra hand when staff is neededOversee all regular repair and maintenance of equipment/machinery, investigate breakdowns of equipment; troubleshoot and resolve issues through repairs while continually brainstorming ideas for plant modification and improvement.Receive all reports of equipment breakdowns or performance issues.Ensure all preventative maintenance measures are being carried out and ensure all operations within the facility are carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations; monitor and follow up on the completion of safety documentation.Ensure operators are maintaining their areas to prevent safety hazards; ensure efficient pace of loading while adhering to safety regulations.Assist producers and truck drivers in unloading their trucks as needed.Responsible for regular physical counts of inventory and monitor chemical inventory arrangement in accordance with regulations.Review maintenance and records on rental equipment; keep the facility in good shape and report any future repairs.Ensure all Crop inputs shipments are inspected for quality and quantity; assist in the scheduling of equipment and manpower in a profitable manner.Assist with all safety audits when conducted and monthly inspections are completed; ensure all training records are current in regards to equipment operating.Work collaboratively with facility employees to ensure the smooth operation of the Grain Elevator and Fertilizer ShedFoster a culture of respect and a positive, progressive environment for all employees and customersThis job may require additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by P&H. The successful candidate should enter the position with the following qualifications:Proficient knowledge of the responsibilities of Grain Elevator Operators.Knowledge of threats of storing grain and oilseed and demonstrates sound knowledge of Grain Elevator EquipmentCompetency in grading corn, wheat, oats and beans.Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; knowledge of agriculture business and operationKnowledge of hydraulic machinery and electrical competency ; mechanical and maintenance knowledgeKnowledge and application of the computer operating system – Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).Ability to perform the mathematical calculations required for grain analysis; coordination and dexterityAbility to coach and supervise a team; a strong decision making and problem solving issues;Strong written and verbal communication Working Conditions:Exposure to grain dust.Able to climb ladders and work at heights.Able to lift up to 50 lbs. several times in a shift.Able to stand for long periods of time.Ability to work inside and outside in a variety of weather conditions.Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required. We thank all applicants, but only those selected for an interview will be contacted.P&H is committed to building a skilled and diverse workforce that is reflective of Canadian society.  As a result, Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited is an equal opportunity employer and is in compliance with the Employment Equity Act.
