Working together to provide essential services to communities across Western Canada, we are hiring a Fertilizer Terminal Operator on a casual basis at our Hanley Fertilizer terminal in Hanley, Saskatchewan.

What you’ll do:

You will assists in the day-to-day operations of the Fertilizer Terminal.

  • Monitor and operate process equipment and computerized control systems involved with the shipping and receiving of fertilizer products. Enter data into fertilizer blending equipment when required.
  • Operate front-end loader to ensure transportation is on schedule, loadout inventories match scheduled daily demand, inspection shows no signs of possible contamination, and is accompanied by completed shipping documentation.
  • Assist with rail coordination by safely operating a track mobile and/or railcar opener to unload bulk unit trains. Once unloaded, ensure storage bins meet required inventory levels.
  • Perform general housekeeping operations in buildings and terminal grounds. Perform light repair and maintenance when required.
  • Respond to customers concerns and report any difficult concerns to Fertilizer Terminal Supervisor. Assist the Supervisor in identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Monitor and manage quality controls (ex. oiling dusty product), screen outbound and inbound, run conditioners, and clean/maintain equipment and work floors.
  • Identify current/potential maintenance issues and report to supervisor, complete scale crosschecks to verify scale weights are regulated, and assist with terminal weigh overs and audits as required.
  • Participate in safety meetings, plant inspections, and task observations. Ensure pre-checks and safe works plans are in place (ex. JSA, permit requests, etc.).
  • Maintain clean shipping and receiving area to prevent contamination of fertilizer products and ensure full compliance with safety procedures and personal protective equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Production, Trades and Maintenance and:

  • You have a Grade 12 Diploma
  • You have a minimum of 3 – 5 years of relevant experience. Experience working with mobile equipment as well as in agriculture operations is an asset. Mobile equipment certifications and first aid training is an asset. (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered)
  • You must have a valid driver’s license, be comfortable climbing heights, and be able to work around dust.
  • You have excellent communication and people skills, mechanical aptitude of terminal maintenance and repair, and knowledge of fertilizer agro products are an asset
  • You’re honest and trustworthy, are results oriented and strive to be the best in what you do.
  • You believe in collaboration, building relationships and value the perspectives of others.
