CASCADES CONTAINERBOARD PACKAGING

The Containerboard Packaging Group, a division of Cascades, is the largest containerboard producer in Canada, and is also a top converter of corrugated products in the country. The Group manufactures a wide range of products made from recycled fibres for its North American customers in the food, beverage and consumer products sectors, among many others. The Division, which employs close to 3,400 people, owns six containerboard mills and nineteen corrugated products plants in Canada and the United States.

OVERVIEW

The Administrative Technician reports directly to Human Resources Manager and has a working relationship with the Senior Management Team and other plant staff as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Purchasing:

  • Plan and purchase materials, machine parts and office supplies for the plant utilizing SAP and Ariba to create purchase orders.
  • Diligently and proactively follow-up with suppliers to ensure timely receipt of orders
  • Receiving of product, production supplies and maintenance items using SAP and Ariba
  • Perform Invoicing tasks including miscellaneous credits and debits using SAP and excel tracking
  • Accounts payable invoice approvals in the DMS system
  • Organizing and filing of Bills of Lading

Human Resources:

  • Provide general administrative assistance as required including posting of work schedules, updating communication boards, contact lists and Company databases.
  • Assist with Health & Safety functions of the plant including: Recording minutes of the JHSC meetings, posting H&S information, tracking and maintaining H&S documentation including Hazard/Incident Reports, monthly inspection audits & maintaining the Company’s safety database.

General Office Duties:

  • Manage the plant’s electronic safety communication system
  • Respond to telephone, in person or electronic enquiries and forward to appropriate person
  • Greet visitors to the plant and help direct them as required
  • Complete general office tasks – Photocopy and collate documents for distribution, mailing and filing duties, sort and file documents according to established filing systems, locate and retrieve documents from files as requested and maintain records of filed and removed materials, process incoming and outgoing mail and arrange for couriers as needed
  • Assist with the planning and organizing of on-site social events, training workshops and meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS & ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Post Secondary Education – Business Administration preferred
  • Excellent computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using SAP an asset.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

General office environment; periods of standing and sitting, some lifting, walking, bending and twisting
