Dermalogica is seeking a talented Analyst

We need to empower people across the business with information as well as supporting our entrepreneurial culture through building, testing and iterating hypotheses. To do that we need people with analytical expertise and the motivation to apply it to prestige skin care.

Our analytics agenda is moving at pace and this role is key to continuing to move us towards our goal to be industry leading. We have work to do to; we need an inquisitive individual to continue to develop analytic tools and to build analytical skills across the business. While this role is analysis and technology focused, the employee would also manage key operational and financial reporting processes that enable Dermalogica to function smoothly.

The right person for this role demonstrates a passion and curiosity in identifying and interpreting trends within complex data sets to deliver actionable insights as well as supporting and driving efficiencies in our correct processes.

Key Job Accountabilities:

Analytics and Technology projects:

  • Be the Canadian Automation expert
  • Create and maintain VBA macros to automate and streamline processes across functions
  • Lead Canada’s adoption of RPA using UI Path
  • Develop and deploy customized solutions
  • Verify solutions are accurate and efficient using solution design documentation
  • Maintain and develop existing RPA processes
  • Research and recommend new technologies to improve the efficiency of finance and other teams
  • Partner with sales teams to analyze results, identify trends, and highlight insights
  • Utilize Tableau to create dashboards that showcase relevant data
  • Integrate new data sets
  • Understand the business objectives and risks and determine the best indicators to monitor them
  • Translate financial information into actionable insights
  • Work with Supply Chain team to optimize performance
  • Highlight items at risk of stock-outs
  • Reduce the inventory levels on hand
  • Minimize product expiry and waste

Accounting responsibilities:

  • Weekly and monthly sales reporting
  • Report our results to the Global team for consolidation
  • Work with department heads to provide commentary to results and update forecasts
  • Credit card reconciliations
  • Track corporate card usage and reconcile against expense reports
  • Improve the process to reduce manual intervention and processing delays
  • Assist in the preparation of bank reconciliations and various other account reconciliations
  • Allocate costs to the correct channels ensuring accurate reporting and departmental P&Ls
  • Prepare, maintain, and reconcile Fixed Assets and Prepaid Expenses
  • Track and book monthly expense accrual
  • Own the accounting and control monitoring for our retail locations
  • Ensure our stores have accurate sales, cost, and inventory records
  • Execute, monitor, and enforce the cash and sales controls, including bank reconciliations
  • Assist in ERP upgrade and integrating new accounting systems (i.e. Blackline)

Experience and Competencies Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business, Finance or Information Management or another related field.
  • Experience using data manipulation tools and building visualizations using large datasets and multiple data sources.
  • Strong leadership skills (planning, communication, relationship building, influencing)
  • Excellent initiative and follow-up skills, and ability to carry out a variety of responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate an analytical mindset, enjoy problem solving and understand how to ask the right questions to deliver solution focused outcomes.
  • Basic accounting knowledge and familiarity with financial reporting
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, learn autonomously, and highly organized
  • Fast learner for fast-paced work environment.
