Job description: Organization:
Vancouver Bach Choir
Deadline:
Jun. 19, 2021
Organization Description:
Now in its 91st season, the Vancouver Bach Choir (VBC) provides high quality training and performances of traditional and new choral works for all communities of all ages. With eight choral ensembles, the VBC is the largest choral group in Metro Vancouver and the only organization that provides choral singing and education to over 400 voices from kindergarten to adulthood. We are committed to offering choral education, and vibrant and culturally diverse choral experiences to its audiences.
As one of the largest choral organizations in Canada, the Vancouver Bach Choirs explore a wide range of repertoire from the past to the present with passion and commitment. Through its series of concerts presented at the magnificent Orpheum Theatre and throughout the lower mainland and points beyond, the organization continues to meet its mandate of choral education, as well as commissioning and performing works by Canadian composers alongside the world’s favourite symphonic choral works.
The adult choir, under the baton of Maestro Leslie Dala, celebrates its 91st season in 2021-22, while the children’s program celebrates its 37th year, ably guided by Music Director Marisa Gaetanne.
The VBC and VBCC work and make music on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples.
We are committed in our daily practice to question our own processes and advance ideals of diversity, equity and inclusivity. That includes opening our hiring process to anyone who feels passionate about choral music and contributing to a rich and diverse musical scene in Vancouver. Please use the description below as a reference point, but if you believe you have the aptitude and attitude to successfully add to our organization in this role regardless of meeting these guidelines exactly, we want to hear from you.
