Position Overview: Supporting the Global Business Development (M&A) team, this position is a remote analytical finance role which is responsible for supporting financial analysis and ad-hoc research. In this entry level role, the incumbent will review, analyze and summarize potential investments, build complex financial models, and develop recommendations that will support executive level presentations and decisions across the organization.

We are open to considering candidates in Western Canada as the position will support a remote work environment.

Job Description:

For this position, the expected salary range is between $22 and $26 per hour. This range reflects our commitment to providing competitive compensation that aligns with industry standards and your qualifications.

Financial Analysis

  • Assist in the sourcing, evaluation and execution of M&A transactions, joint venture partnerships, commercial agreements, and other growth opportunities
  • Analyze target companies’ budgets, financial statements, forecast and other financial data
  • Develop and update complex financial models to support potential investment opportunities and guide strategic decisions
  • Exercise advanced financial and data analysis techniques and other tools to effectively simulate outcomes and produce forecasts
  • Prepare presentations based on analysis, which will be presented to various stakeholders, including the executive management team and board
  • Support the broader Finance organization with ad-hoc strategic projects

Industry and Competitive Research

Conduct benchmarking of other industry participants and competitors, locally and globally

Lead and synthesize industry research and analysis into insights on emerging opportunities that span across business development, strategic alliances, M&A, and divestments, among others

Stay updated with emerging market trends and best practices

Screen potential industries, sectors and acquisition candidates and update target company database

Commercial Due Diligence

Assemble and synthesize due diligence information on potential M&A transactions (products, operating facilities, key capabilities, ownership, financial performance, etc.)

Specific Skills:

High level of critical thinking to formulate business issues into analytical problems and devise actionable solutions

Strong cross-cultural and cross-functional teamwork skills demonstrated and maintained through relationship-building and emotional intelligence

Exceptional numeracy skills and have a passion for deriving insights from analyses

A flexible & problem-solving mindset, excellent attention to detail

Competency using MS Excel and MS PowerPoint

Fluency in English (spoken and written) and fluency is Spanish is a plus

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with strong sense of professionalism

The ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships and can exemplify a “can-do” attitude

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask

Knowledge:

Understanding of financial modeling (including DCF, comparables and precedent valuations) and corporate finance concepts

Ability to build models using sensitivity analysis that allow for dynamic ‘what if’ situations

Proficient in MS Office applications, advanced level in excel and internal systems.

Prior experience in investment banking, consulting, private equity, venture capital, corporate development or transaction services / M&A advisory

Education & Experience:

Pursuing or completed a post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or relevant disciplines

Prior experience in M&A, financial and valuation analysis, modeling, business analysis and data-driven financial analysis

CFA, CBV, MBA or related designations is an asset

** This full time temporary assignment will run from Jan 3rd to April 26th
