Job description: About the role

We’re looking for a Finance Manager based in the US or Canada (any time zone) to join our FP&A team and partner closely with Shopify’s Ecosystem team. In this role, you will partner with senior leadership both within the business as well as within Finance, and lead a team to provide strategic analysis, financial reporting, planning, budgeting, and forecasting to make great decisions and help drive outstanding results.

So what’s Ecosystem? Think of it as the team that makes commerce better for everyone by attracting developers to build in niche product gaps so merchants have everything they need to power their business. Shopify merchants can leverage to add functionality to suit their particular needs. As Shopify expands into new merchant segments and regions, we’ll discover more product gaps, fueling more innovation and more ways to help our merchants succeed.

Projects you could work on:

Strategic implementation of product-based medium and long term strategies for software and hardware

Ongoing model development and execution of growth initiatives and overall business line performance

Projects with data science, operations, commercial, and product teams to assess business drivers and drive LTV/unit economic improvement

Negotiations with commercial and commerce-adjacent companies (e.g., Google, Facebook, TikTok, etc.)

Developing actionable management reporting, dashboards, and KPIs and overseeing monthly performance against the agreed-upon goals

Qualifications

At least 7+ years (give or take) of experience in financial modelling and strategic business planning
Proven track record of driving significant impact in complex business situations

A growth mindset, a builder’s mentality and a proven history of effective execution

The ability to thrive in a fast-moving, ambiguous work environment and to navigate through change

Superior written and verbal communication skills, business partnering expertise, and an excellent ability to mentor and teach

Experience building, developing and managing high-performing teams

Preferred requirements for the role:

Significant experience in strategic and financially focused industries such as corporate finance, investment banking, management consulting, corporate accounting or asset management

Experience creating business cases in a fast-growth business

Experience in tech or other SAAS-based business models
