Accountability Statement:
The WAM Accounting & Reporting team is primarily responsible for the ledger close process and the accounting, analysis, and financial reporting results of the Legal Entity Reporting (LER) subsidiaries. The LER team focuses on performing the legal entity controllership function for a growing number of subsidiaries, limited partnerships and equity accounted investments relating to Alternative Asset Classes.
Reporting directly to the Head of NA WAM A&R, the incumbent is expected to review and oversee the analysis & reporting of subsidiary financial statements, team preparation of board reports, and team production of regulatory reporting requirements and support the LER team on all external audit activities. The incumbent will be heavily involved in financial statement automation to help streamline and develop monthly and quarterly reporting efficiencies. Day to day activities will include:
Key Accountabilities:
Leadership
- Provide guidance and mentorship on a consistent basis to build a strong, engaged team

Legal Entity Reporting and Regulatory Governance
- Review and oversee the preparation of financial statements and disclosures for a number of subsidiaries
- Review and oversee the preparation of CFO and Board of Directors reporting packages on a quarterly basis
- Review and oversee balance sheet roll-forward schedules, explaining quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year changes
- Review and oversight of all legal entity regulatory reporting requirements for US and Canadian subsidiaries, on a monthly and quarterly basis
- Oversee and support financial analysis of product development initiatives
- Oversight of financial statement preparation and coordination of annual external audits for US and Canadian subsidiaries
- Assist in coordination of tax filings and tax compliance
- Provide prompt and accurate service to setup and evaluate the financial reporting implications of new products and initiatives
- Working with the team, assist in developing and implement processes and controls to support legal entity reporting. Also implement processes to ensure appropriate oversight and review is maintained over regulatory reporting
- Liaise with revenue and billing team to assist with special projects and monthly/quarterly reporting requirements
- Work independently or with management and accounting policy teams to identify and solution for complex operational business issues
- Develop solutions to automate existing manual processes within Global WAM
- Prepare and Review memos and supporting documentation for accounting policy changes and dividend projections and communicate to all stakeholders
- Lead meetings with business stakeholders to analyze and document business processes and collect business requirements for new solutions
- Develop processes and reporting solutions to support complex products and meet the needs of sophisticated clients
- Collaborate with other teams and business partners on special projects, as the need arises

Qualifications
- University degree in Accounting or Finance, 10+ years of proven experience; professional accounting or finance designation strongly preferred (CPA, CFA, or equivalent)
- Minimum 4 years of experience in wealth and asset management
- Well versed in IFRS and US GAAP
- Knowledge of Infor/Lawson, Oracle Smart View, accounting units (1Stop, 1Exp, EPO, 1KFM) and cost centers a strong plus
- Staff management experience, proven leadership and engagement abilities
- Strong attention to detail and aptitude to learn
- Well organized to meet tight deadlines, multi-task assignments and balance information needs with last minute changes or requests.
- Ability to break down complex problems and offer practical solutions
- High level of energy and initiative to perform in a fast paced and challenging environment
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced level of proficiency in MS Excel and other MS Office tools (e.g. Word and PowerPoint to develop reports, documents and presentations)
- Ability to act as a change agent and execute process improvement solutions through collaboration, effective communication, and influencing skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
