The Richmond Olympic Oval is looking for an enthusiastic Fitness Centre Attendant with strong communication skills and a passion for health and wellness. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment, member engagement, conducting youth and adult fitness consultations, providing spotting assistance and performing other tasks as required. The incumbent will work closely with members, the general public, other Fitness Attendants, Oval Team Leaders, and the Fitness Centre Shift Leads.
Job Summary:
- Maintains a safe, clean, and welcoming fitness centre environment.
- Provides assistance to fitness centre patrons.
- Continuously and proactively engages fitness centre patrons by moving throughout the fitness centre and interacting with members.
- Enforces facility and fitness centre policies for the safety and enjoyment of all who use the fitness centre.
- Performs miscellaneous tasks as required.
Examples of Work:
- Welcome, greet and offer assistance to fitness centre patrons.
- Offer and conduct adult and youth fitness centre orientations.
- Provide safe and effective instruction on all cardiovascular and weight training equipment.
- Provide feedback to patrons on correct exercise technique when appropriate.
- Provide strength training spotting assistance as required by fitness centre patrons.
- Conduct light maintenance and cleaning of exercise equipment.
- Conduct safety checks on all fitness equipment.
- Provide a safe and clean environment for members to work out in.
- Monitor daily fitness centre usage statistics.
- Answer patron questions about the fitness centre, including features and amenities.
- Maintain equipment inventory on a quarterly basis.
- May be required to teach a circuit class using HOIST or Kinesis equipment
Qualifications:
- Minimum of grade 12 completion.
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR-C.
- BCRPA or Canfitpro registration (or Equivalent) in Weight Training. Additional fitness certifications an asset.
- Strong knowledge of the fitness industry.
- Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Friendly and self-motivated, with excellent customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must be able to successfully complete a criminlal record check.
- Must be able to submit proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (2 doses).
Work Hours:
Must be available evenings and weekends.
Salary and Benefits:
$20.22 to $22.46 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits (hourly rate is based on qualifications and experience)
