The Revenue Division provides administration, compliance and enforcement activities for tax statutes administered by the ministry, including audit assessments, tax refunds, tax credit and benefit programs, inspections and investigations. This business area also collects taxes and fees levied on properties.
A recipient of the 2020 Top Work Unit Award, The Property Taxation Branch (the Branch) fulfils the ministry’s statutory responsibility for tax administration, through the application and interpretation of relevant Acts: Home Owner Grant Act (HOG), Land Tax Deferment Act (LTD), Property Transfer Tax Act (PTTA), including Additional Transfer Tax , and Taxation (Rural Area) Act (TRRA), the school tax levied under the School Act, the police tax levied under the Police Act, and the Speculation and Vacancy Tax Act (SVT).
Working with Manager, Audit and Compliance, Annual Property Tax and reporting to the manager or a senior auditor, the Property Tax Auditor is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely remitting and reporting, auditing, accounting and reconciliation to province of over $3.1 billion in provincial school taxes collected by municipalities from property tax payers in their jurisdictions.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
- Must be a member in good standing with a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA; CPA, CGA; CPA, CMA; or CPA), issued by The Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada.
- Note: If your designation was obtained from outside of Canada, you will need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through an applicable Canadian Accounting Association.
- Three years experience in accounting and/or auditing, including a minimum of two years audit experience.
- Experience working with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Minimum two years recent experience interpreting and applying complex legislation.
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience in tax administration.
