Quick Facts: RGH has approximately 5000 staff, 2600 physicians/residents and 500 volunteers. RGH is located next to Carewest Glenmore Park and the Southern Alberta Institute of Urology. RGH has a consistent compliance rate of over 90% for Hand Hygiene. Facility Overview: The Rockyview General Hospital opened its doors in 1966, originally as a medical and surgical hospital until 24-hour emergency services were added in 1971. In 1986, the Highwood Building opened and the original hospital building also began renovations. In 1997, a new hospital addition opened and was named the Holy Cross Ambulatory Care Centre. A major expansion to the Highwood Tower in 2008 opened three additional levels in the building, including new administrative and education space on the 10th floor and four new medical and surgical units. The 40,000 square foot facility is the largest, most comprehensive urology centre in Canada with a multi-disciplined, patient-centered approach to urological care. In March 2010, the Rockyview also added a southern addition with a brand new, state-of-the-art Emergency department. This addition also includes shelled-in space for the future Cardiac Care Unit and Intensive Care Unit, along with other support facilities.

Description:

As a Food Service I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with basic food preparation in accordance with AHS standards and procedures. Your typical duties may include packaging and portioning food items, preparing food according to set guidelines and menus, serving meals to patients and customers and cleaning and sanitizing equipment, dishes, tables and serving areas.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Physically capable to lift food, supplies and equipment up to 46lbs and must be able to push/pull meal carts up to 250lbs. This position requires you to walk and stand on your feet for the duration of your shift. Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English well. Capable & Willingness to be moved as requested by the supervisor with no notice. Must be reliable, cooperative, and neat in appearance and work habits. Ability to work independently. Must display good judgement and possess leadership qualities. Knowledge of safe food handling and routine sanitation procedures. Motor coordination and dexterity. Must maintain confidentiality and follow department guidelines and standards. Must be physically fit. Ability to understand simple instructions and simple calculations or drawings. Ability to pass literacy test as per department policy. Basic knowledge of and experience with computer applications. Preferred Qualifications:

Food service experience is an asset. 5-years Hospital Food service experience. 1-year Customer service experience. 1-year Rockyview Hospital Patient Food Service experience. Experience with inventory management; receiving deliveries, managing expiry dates and minimizing waste while utilizing “First in- First Out” procedures. Experience with Industrial Food Service Equipment. Food Safe Certificate or equivalent. WHMIS training.
