The company operates over 290+ hospitals and clinics across Canada and employs over 5,500, dedicated veterinary professionals. VetStrategy has undergone a tremendous amount of growth and continues to grow at a rapid pace. Our business model is simple; we work with our veterinary partners to acquire ownership in veterinary hospitals, and then help in the management of these practices. This allows the medical team to focus on practicing first-rate medicine, and allows the clinic’s staff, clients, and patients to benefit from experienced business operators and managers. The Role The General Accountant reports directly to the Senior Accountant and will have opportunities to work with upper management. Some of the General Accountant’s responsibilities include the month-end closing process, preparation of reconciliations, as well as other ad hoc projects such as making process improvements.
**Location is Remote – can be based anywhere in Canada!** Responsibilities * Full cycle accounting and month-end closing process

  • Identifying accounting issues and working closely with clinics to resolve them
  • Providing support to clinics on accounting-related matters
  • Posting intercompany transactions
  • Preparing balance sheet account reconciliation
  • Conducting variance analysis on account balances
  • Participating in process improvement projects
  • Assisting in providing supporting documents during year-end audit
  • Ad hoc projects as assigned

Background, Experience and Qualifications * Minimum of 3 years of previous experience in a similar role

  • Post Secondary Degree in accounting, or equivalent
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent Analytical skills
  • NetSuite experience, an asset
  • Organized; good time management skills
  • Attention to details and accuracy
  • Team oriented
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Positive attitude
  • Comfortable in a pet-friendly environment, when visiting the office
