Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga has a great opportunity for a General Accountant. The successful incumbent will oversee & ensure proper internal controls of the finance administrative activities including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, and General Accounting & Payroll functions. The General Accountant will support the Director, Finance and Finance Supervisor with various financial reporting requirements & the administration of the fiscal period processes.

Essential Responsibilities

• Support the cash reporting: weekly function
• Involvement in month end reporting cycle, budgeting and forecasting, support all audits
• Support financial reporting as required
• Ensure timely & accurate weekly payroll runs & remittances
• Monitor the Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable ledger to ensure timely payment of receipts & disbursements
• Monitor & approve reconciliations of general ledger accounts associated with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Accounting & Payroll
• Management of General Ledger accounts
• Customer Service Liaison: trade customers, vendors, & employees
• Dealing & maintaining working relationships with banks, government bodies & inter company

Position Requirements

• 2-year college degree or equivalent: Business Administration or Accounting
• 3 to 5 years experience in a general accounting capacity, preferably aerospace
• Certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner or Manager
• Extensive knowledge of Kronos timekeeping & Abra payroll software
• Proficient with Cincom, CODA & MS Office products
• Excellent knowledge of internal/external banking policies, accounting principles, Management regulations & compliance
• Knowledge of employment standards, statutory requirements and CRA rules
• Leadership, coaching & motivation skills
• Working towards CPA is a plus
• Exposure to the financial reporting process is a bonus
