About the role:

Dribbble seeks a proven and experienced lawyer to join our team as general counsel and play a critical role in our growth as a private and eventually public company. The General Counsel will be an instrumental advisor on a wide range of legal, compliance, corporate, operational, and strategic matters. The ideal candidate has proven experience as a current general counsel or at least two years of experience as a direct report to a general counsel at a public company.

As a General Counsel, you’ll be responsible for:

• Provide accurate and timely counsel to the leadership team on a variety of legal topics (commercial contracts, intellectual property, including copyright and infringement, privacy, employment, corporate finance, international operations, etc).
• Work closely with leadership team to identify legal and compliance risks relevant to the company, research and evaluate risk factors regarding business decisions, proactively advise on possible legal issues and devise efficient risk management and defense strategies.
• Develop internal governance and compliance policies and regularly monitor compliance.
• Negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority, etc).
• Draft and review legal documents and contracts to protect the company and ensure full legal compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Provide support for M&A transactions, including deal structure and LOI terms, planning and assisting in due diligence, drafting and negotiating transaction agreements.

We believe it’s important for you to have:

• 5+ years of proven experience as a legal counsel in the technology sector, with experience as a current general counsel or at least two years of experience as a direct report to a general counsel at a public company.
• Must be a member of good standing of the California Bar.
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate and labor law and procedures.
• Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation.
• Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies.
• High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
• Experience interacting at senior level with business management, and working cross-functionally with various functional teams including HR and Finance.
• Thrives in an environment where you need to roll-up your sleeves and own outcomes.
• Ability to strike a sensible and practical balance between legal risks and the need to do business.
• Ability to influence, provide point of view and to listen.
• Excellent judgment, attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
• Knowledge of common Canada-US cross-border legal issues is a significant plus, but not required.
