Job title: General Maintenance Worker
Job description: Best Buy Canada’s Distribution and Service Centre, based out of Langley, BC, is currently looking for a General Maintenance Worker! The General Maintenance Worker will be responsible for day to day building issues, maintaining our 5S program and working on special building/renovation projects.
Availability Requirement
- This is a Seasonal/Contract position. – you must be available to work a minimum of 32 hours a week
- Monday- Friday availability ( 8am to 4:15pm ). Hours will vary throughout the year
- Must be open to a flexible schedule including weekends
As a General Maintenance Worker, you will….
- Ensure the building is clear of debris, looks organized, and is safe at all times
- Work on and assist with special building/renovation projects related to facilities issues, such as hanging signs, painting, moving furniture, assisting with special functions.
- Build functional solutions for the building using shop equipment
- Operate the garbage compactor and cardboard baler
- Provide timely support to all associates by ensuring that our machine batteries are maintained, inspected, and changed, as necessary.
- Other responsibilities include reporting problems or damages with the compactor, cardboard baler, MHE, conveyor, racking and damaged product
- Occasionally work at heights (up to 30 feet), indoor and outdoor
- Operate power-jacks and lift trucks
The experience and education we need…
- Completion of High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Experience with general building maintenance or grounds keeping
- Experience operating many different types of power tools
- Required repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs., bending and twisting
- Experience with driving material handling equipment (MHE) is considered an asset
