Kings Transit Authority is a public transit service operating daily from Grand Pre to Weymouth in the Annapolis Valley and western Nova Scotia. Funded by the six municipalities within that geographic area, it is governed by a Board of Directors who set overall policies and strategic direction.

Public transit systems are at an exciting and critical juncture. The Board of Directors is seeking a forward-thinking professional to help reimagine and lead the organization forward as General Manager. The General Manager is the senior administrative leader of the Authority, responsible, within the parameters of the Inter-Municipal Agreement, for the organization’s overall management.

What qualities are needed as General Manager?

You have significant experience and a solid working knowledge of transit operations and the ability to effectively manage large and complex operations, multi-site project management, strategic planning, and employee development and supervision. Additionally, you possess well-rounded skills in finance, customer service, marketing and public relations and a successful track record working collaboratively with a Board of Directors.

Your innovative mindset, energy, and drive have helped you lead organizations through various types of change including efficiency, service expansion, and other changes to improve service to customers and engage employees.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills enable you to build trust and consensus among various stakeholders, including elected officials, staff, other levels of government, and citizens. You are dedicated to transparency and integrity and have demonstrated a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity.

Finally, you have an appreciation of the crucial role public transit can play in a rural setting and are excited to be a highly engaged member of the community.
