Reporting to the Executive Vice-President and Director of Operations and the Owners, the General Manager plans, organizes, directs and controls the activities of the Hotel in order to offer quality services and products to customers and to ensure the efficiency and profitability of the business.

The Tidan Hotel and Real Estate Group is a dynamic real estate and hotel group headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Since its founders purchased their first property in 1970, Tidan has built a large, diverse portfolio of profitable self-managed properties located in Canada and the United States. The portfolio includes office, retail, industrial and residential properties, as well as a group of affiliated hotels and one of the largest indoor tennis facilities in North America. Tidan’s latest hotel acquisition is the Montreal Marriott Château Champlain hotel, which Tidan has completely renovated. Located in the heart of downtown Montreal, the hotel has 614 rooms, multi-purpose spaces with a theatre, 23 meeting rooms, some with panoramic views, a restaurant, a terrace, as well as a bar, banquet service and room service.

The Montreal Marriott Chateau Champlain, is a 614-room hotel, is looking for an experienced General manager who will take responsibility for improving our level of service in order to increase the profitability of our hotel. The successful candidate will ensure that our service departments work together to create the best possible experience for each visitor.

Reporting to the Executive Vice-President and Director of Operations and the Owners, the General Manager plans, organizes, directs and controls the activities of the Hotel in order to offer quality services and products to customers and to ensure the efficiency and profitability of the business.

Job description:

  • Prepares, participates and follows up on meetings of the executive committee
  • Manages relations with unionized and non-unionized employees with the various department heads
  • Sees to the management of financial resources (research of financing, preparation of budgets, control of operating costs, verifies financial statements)
  • Develops and participates in the development of prices and promotional strategies, in collaboration with the heads of departments concerned
  • Represents the institution with industry associations, business communities, etc.;
  • Develops and implements the company’s action plan
  • Participates in the negotiation of the collective agreement in collaboration with the lawyer and the HR department of the company
  • Sees to the identification of training needs and the organization of training (internal and external)
  • Works with the sales department to maximize hotel average rate, occupancy and profitability.
  • Also, trains and delegates tasks requiring follow-up during absences and vacations
  • Analyzes activity reports, prospecting and sales reports, etc.
  • Prepare and lead meetings with department heads
  • Participates and leads some employee meetings
  • Coach and supervise the Sales Manager
  • Ensure coordination between the various departments of the establishment
  • Leads the executive committee of the hotel
  • Meets with the Executive Vice President and Director of Operations to present budgets, reports, business performance, etc.
  • Participates in the verification of reservations taken by the clerks and employees responsible for reservations
  • Develops and oversees the preparation of budgets and analyzes revenues and expenses for all departments
  • Sees to the good working climate and advises department heads in mobilizing their workforce
  • Ultimately, ensures customer satisfaction during and after their stay
  • Accompanies department heads in the performance evaluation of their employees
  • Ensures a rigorous follow-up with all the concessions of the establishment in order to meet the needs of the establishment and the satisfaction of the customers
  • Performs all other related tasks.
